Mates

The Cats mates vary in different productions. Almost always, though, Munkustrap and Demeter are together. The rest depends on how the director/producer of that particular show wants it to be, or how the actors interpret their characters. The short list below is what is PROBABLY right for the movie. They don't seem particularly strict though and will dance with lots of other Cats!

Alonzo - Cassandra

Munkustrap - Demeter

Plato - Victoria

Rum Tum Tugger - Bombalurina.
BUT if you watch her and Pouncival in the background, especially in the Rum Tum Tugger and the bit with Plato and Victoria, she seems to like Pouncival too! And the Rum Tum Tugger DEFINETELY isn't strict about who he flirts with...

There is a debate about whether Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer are mates or twins. I personally think they are twins. Do you agree?

The Mating Dance

Here is a list of who mates with who in the mating dance, with commentary by me! *giggles* I wrote this for Jellicle Paradise. Some of these couples are severely wierd. Check out my joint fanfic with Leithleah HERE - it explains the Story Behind The Mating Dance!

THE MATING DANCE DOESN'T PROVE ANYTHING!!

(In case anyone gets annoyed about this, please don't take it seriously. The partners are true, but the commentary is just a bit of fun! And there are a whole ton of opinions, but they are ONLY opinions and I'm not trying to disguise them as facts.)
Check out the weird partners the Cats pair into for the mating dance! Well, some are normal, and some are ok-ish, but some are just, wrong!! It's creepy! I'm scared! *runs off to bury her head in cushions *

Admetus - Etcetera (Ok-ish, neither have a regular mate as far as I can tell. Could be with each other! Except theres no proof of that anywhere else in the movie.)

Alonzo - Cassandra (reasonably normal)

Asparagus - Jellylorum (Aaaaaaargh! She is way older than him!!!)

Coricopat - Tantomile (HELP! They're twins, HOW can they do the mating dance??)

Mistoffelees - Electra (This is cute! Neither of them seem to have a regular mate, unless it's each other. Which doesn't show anywhere else in the movie!)

Mungojerrie - Rumpelteazer (They're twins! TWINS!!)

Plato - Victoria (normal)

Pouncival - Bombalurina (Eeek! She is much older than him! Pounci's only a kitten!)

Rum Tum Tugger - Jennyanydots (I'm really freaked out by this! Surely the sexy Tugger would go for someone, like, his age?? Like Bombalurina! Can you believe the Rum Tum Tugger with the Old Gumbie Cat??)

Tumblebrutus - Jemima (Yay for Tumble! This is a cute pair - Tumble doesn't seem to have a regular mate in the movie, unless it is Jemima. Usually, though, Jemima is supposed to be Alonzo's mate. Not in the movie, I guess! Oh well!)

Demeter and Skimbleshanks both dance it, but without a partner! Munkustrap doesn't even do it! He is watching in the shadows behind them, next to the tyre and Old Deuteronomy. Why? Well, at least Demeter isn't doing it with any random Cat, but she SHOULD be with Munkustrap!!

My conclusion - The Mating Dance doesn't prove who is mating with who. I think that this dance is more like a bit of fun, except for Plato and Victoria. *starts laughing hysterically at wierdness of the mating dance - and the wierdness of herself!*
