DEMETER
Here is my interpretation of Demeter's character. If I have said who she is related to, this is only my ideas and not official.
Demeter is one of the more mature Jellicle queens. She is loyal and sweet, and sometimes motherly towards the younger cats. At the first appearance of Grizabella she tries to reach out to her, but stops herself. She is probably feeling pressure from the other cats to recoil from Grizabella, particularly from Munkustrap and Bombalurina who Demeter is close to. Being one of the few older queens she knows a lot about the history of the tribe, including Grizabella and Macavity, both of whom she sings about, maybe to tell the younger kittens. She is fair though, and leaves the decision whether to hate Grizabella or feel sorry for her up to the listener. Demeter enjoys the Jellicle Ball but she is very nervous of Macavity and whenever anything happens, she immediately jumps to the conclusion that it must have been Macavity! When Macavity comes, he tries to take her away but Munkustrap and Alonzo save her. Munkustrap then fights Macavity, probably to save Demeter as much as to protect the tribe. Demeter and Munkustrap are very faithful to each other.
Demeter is either close friends or sisters with Bombalurina. She is Munkustrap's mate and is very loyal to him - she ignores the Rum Tum Tugger and even does the mating dance alone (for some reason Munkustrap doesn't participate in the mating dance). Demeter is black and gold, with a white chest. She has silky gloves instead of armwarmers, giving her an elegant touch.
Demeter Requirements
Strong Mezzo belt to C, strong dance technique and strong acting abilities, must be at least 5ft 6in
