The Mighty Thor # 80: "Ragnarok Part 1  "
Writer: Michael Avon Oeming/Daniel Berman
Artist: Andrea DiVito
Jay's Rating:
J1/2

Synopsis:
The forge used to create Thor's enchanted hammer, Mjolnir, falls into Loki's hands. Loki leads an attack force into Asgard and strikes at the heart of the realm. The ensuing battle shatters Mjolnir and Thor is barely able to escape to Earth and seek the aid of the Avengers.

Jay's Notes:
- I want Jurgens back! Now! This story reads more like a Coles Notes summary of events. The writers have forgotten on of the more important rules in writing: Show don't tell. Everything in this story comes too fast and without sufficent explanation.
- I want Scot Eaton back! Now! DiVito's art is acceptable, but just doesn't seem finished enough. Perhaps a veteran inker might be able to help out. Just as a point of comparison, look at the spectacular cover over by Steve Epting.
- Enchantress dying off-panel? What's up with that? I character that's been around since Thor's earliest days is simply killed off-panel?
- Thor has apparently lost the Odinpower, but there's no attempt to explain this at any point in this issue, much less even mention the fact.
