... Dundee United were live on BBC1 against Rangers but failed to win and perform like Motherwell against Celtic. Dundee United started lively but Rangers dominated from start to finish. A strong Rangers team included Peter Lovenkrands, Shota Arveladze and Barry Ferguson. Rangers took the lead when a Lorenzo Amoruso header found the net in the 26th minute. United came close seconds after that goal when Steven Thompson had a chance but Stefan Klos the Rangers keeper came out quick. Barry Ferguson scored before half time to make it 2-0. United made no real threat in the second half and Rangers added a third when Shota Arveladze netted.

... Eddie Thompson the managing director of the large grocery outlet "Morning, Noon and Night" has bought Dundee United Football Club. Thompson who wanted to take over the club last year but couldn't because Jim McLean wouldn't sell his shares became the chairman early today. Thompson said "I am very delighted with taking over this club as it has been a real dream for me to own the club that i so dearly love". Eddie Will hopefully bring in some money to the club. Ex Chairman Scott Carnegie is still a director though. Stephen Thompson (Eddie's son) has also became a Director.

... Dundee United won their first cup tie game of the season last night against Queens Park. Stephen O'Donnell the new youngster scored a hat-trick which will boost his confidence. United gave him a debut and Arnar Gunnlaugsson came on after his brief spell of injury. 4-1 was the final score at Tannadice.

... Dundee United aim to beat Queens Park tonight with a Team full of youngsters. Mark Wilson may play as with Stephen O'Donnel and David Winters.

... It was emerged today that His Highness Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum the leader of the Arab Provence of Dubai has set up a close relationship between the Dubai soccer league and Dundee United football club. This means that Dundee United will be able to play friendly games before pre-season against these Dubai clubs and will be able to swap youth players and staff. His highness revealed he is doing this because the clubs nickname is the "Arabs" and think it would benefit the club and the Dubai League.

... Dundee United loose yet again against The Hearts team
which defeated Motherwell last week. Dundee Utd had
several chances but could not grab a goal. Tynecastle was buzzing when the home team took the lead when Jean Louis Valois netted early in the first half. Hearts then came at United in the second half and scored a second from top scorer Mark De Vries.

... Team News for Todays game, Arnar Gunnlaugsson (Out, Calf) and Jim Paterson (Out). Alex Smith may put in Danny Griffin to mark fellow countryman Andy Kirk for Hearts. Dundee United won all 2 games at Tynecastle last season but Hearts have added boosts with Mark DeVries and Jean Louis Valois with Andy Kirk on fire.

Dundee United and Dundee FC have made an official bid to the SFA to allow the 2 clubs to groundshare if Scotland and Ireland are allowed to host Euro 2008. Peter Marr the Dundee Chairman and Scott Carnegie the Terrors chairman wish to share a 30,000 seater stadium. The stadium will be built in the Caird Park area of the City and the ground will likely be called Discovery Park.

... Dundee United lost yet another game. The terrors lost 2-1 to Fifers Dunfermline. The Pars took an early lead when Gary Dempsie netted and then moments after Stevie Crawford made it 2-0. Dundee United then acted more positively then dominated the whole scond half. United scored a goal in the 50th minute when Derek Lilley netted his first goal of the season but The Dunfermline defence was to be a strong one and the United strikers could not get the equaliser.

... Derek Lilley admits he must stick in and play to the best of his ability if he wants to stay in the team. He stated to the Daily Record that with new players in the team such as Allan Smart and Arnar Gunnlaugsson first team appearances may be limited if he does not prove himself in the next few weeks.
(Thurday 12th September)

... Aberdeen lost their second straight game at the previously 'fortress' Pittodrie as United came back from an early Mackie goal. Scotland Internationalist Steven Thompson scored twice to claim all three points for The Terrors. This was United's first win of the new campaign and send them off the bottom of the league.
