Elections- Finalization of mesa for the upcoming year.
New business
Report on Friday's action downtown as reported by current Mt.SAC chair Hector Munguia
Discussion continued over Jose Sandoval former Rio Hondo Chair taking the external position and how he would work with Juan formerly of Rio Hondo College in the region and very active in the L.A. central.
Mt SAC: Heard that Vero had been nominated for the position.
Cal Poly: correction. @ last Central the issue was a lot of the members were concerned over the fact a lot of members did not know Jose Sandoval and Vero was not nominated for any position, she was discussed as a possibility but everything was tabled.
Mt. SAC: Mt.SAC's official position is "Cultura" is fine, because the chapter knows him and the constitution does not exclude him from taking the position.
Jose Sandoval nominated for the position of External, he accepts and thanks the members for their support.
The positions that have been decided are:
Communications-Ariel nominated two meetings ago and voted in.
Internal- Sergio Barrigan nominated at last meeting and voted in.
Treasurer: Laura Davila was nominated last meeting and she needed time to think about it.
Laura accepts the nomination. Laura Davila is officially voted in as treasurer of the central.
Fatima was voted in as central High School coordinator but she does not feel she can do the job because of her responsibilities as Chair at Cal Poly Pomona and other personal responsibilities.
Veronica Casillas is nominated for the position of High School coordinator by Mt.SAC 2nded by Cal Poly and she accepts. Veronica voted in as High School coordinator.
Discussion over the Central's participation in the action against the community raids by immigration and a lack of communication and planning regarding this event.Vero had a reporter call her house and the press release was disseminated without the permission of the central.
Cal Poly- Our chapter knew about it but we didn't want the new Mechistas to be disappointed. We wanted to help, but we felt that we are not yet strong enough as a central to make any commitments to these actions. We can help get signatures.
The Mesa will next meet on Wednesday June 23
The next Central will be on Friday July 2 before regionals July 3rd at S.D.S.U.
