Central meeting @ Starbucks in Covina 6/4/04

I.                    Intro

Chapters present: Cal Poly., Mt.SAC,

Meeting called to order @6:25 P.M.

Approval of minutes- There were no minutes to approve from last meeting as it was more an unofficial meeting at Shakey’s to say good job for the work done over the past year.

Approval of agenda- No agenda to approve from last meeting.

 

II.                 Old business

·        Nominations- We don’t have enough people to fill all the positions in the Central so it was decided we will only fill up the 4 main positions over the summer which are:

·        External

·        Communications

·        Internal

·        Treasurer.

 

 

 

 

III.               New Business

·        Elections- Still trying to fill all the positions. Discussion followed regarding filling out the positions for the Mesa.

·        High School coordinator- Fatima was elected officially for this position but since she is now Chair at Cal Poly, does not think she can do it permanent. Central will elect a person to be permanent in the fall but Fatima will continue to work with the High Schools until that time.

·        External- Jose Sandoval, former Chair at Rio Hondo College proposed as External at last meeting, but there are problems with it, the main one being he is not officially a Mt. SAC student yet and as stated in the constitution, you have to have a position with your chapter before accepting a position in the central.

·        Internal- Sergio Barrigan suggested for the position of Internal last meeting. Would make the Central more friendly than it was before. Would like to see more involvement with the High Schols and also give them something like more money for school. There were concerns over commitment to do the job and these were discussed and addressed by Sergio and he was officially nominated.

·        Communications- Ariel Carmona will continue to serve as communications officer for the central in fall.

·        Treasurer- No one for this position as of yet, Saul Barrigan from Mt.SAC was mentioned as possibility. Laura Davila from Cal Poly also nominated and said she would “get back to us.”

      

 

IV.              Announcements

 

Next Central meeting will take place in two weeks on 6/18/04 with the location TBA.
