Central meeting @ Cal Poly Pomona

I. Intro
Chapters present: Cal Poly., Mt.SAC,
Meeting called to order @
a. Approval of minutes- Cal Poly motions to approve minutes, Mt.SAC 2nds
Minutes approved by consensus.
b. Approval of agenda- Cal Poly motions to approve agenda, Mt.SAC 2nds
Agenda approved by consensus.
II. Old business
·
Application
for Non-profit status- Internal coordinator says he needs to submit paperwork
and will put in the paperwork tomorrow.

Application
for central membership- Samples were passed around and changes were
suggested. (copy available under documents in yahoo group) Membership
application should be completed before May, election time is coming around and
most of the new chapter Mesas should be in place by then.

UYA-
Discussions continued over the logistics of planning for the upcoming
conference @
· Advisory board- was approved @ last Central but internal says that Central needs to start looking for people that are going to be on it, i.e. ex-Mechistas and advisors. Some suggestions were made.

CalmeCa- Internal
issues with elections at their campus have prevented much input from Mt.SAC, chapter apologized for this. It was suggested
Central adopt changes and make suggestions to program. Program was finalized @
III. New Business
· TV Tapings- Central treasurer would like to know when Cal Poly is available to attend TV taping fundraisers. Cal Poly says T&TH & Friday would be good. Discussion ensued over possible future fundraisers like Shakey’s Night but at Marguarita Jones.
· Statewide- Cal Poly will go, Mt. SAC will also send reps. Community member, former Rio Hondo Chair, Jose Sandoval asked if he could be sponsored by a chapter to attend the conference.

Elections-
Discussion over the need to fill the position of High School Coordinator for
the Central.

Support
for Mt. SAC- Mt. SAC Co-Chair
Veronica Casillas explained the situation with
elections at the campus, seeks support of Central at A.S. meeting on Tuesday @
· Positions- Pedro Olguin relinquished the title of Internal Coordinator citing the fact he won’t be going to school next quarter. External Coordinator takes over the Central. “Focus on having dreams…otherwise our people would be dead.” He encouraged the Central never to stop dreaming and recounted some the goals we have accomplished thus far, the grant application, the listserve, the website for the Central, the flyers used by region in the anti-war effort and the anti-war web page.
IV. Announcements
March 25th the movie “Salt of the Earth” @ Mt.Sac
March 31st- Cesar Chavez celebration on the Mt.SAC campus.
March 21st- the MeCha National Report due.
