1997 'New Woman' contained relationship quotes right on target for Mulder
& Scully... (thanks Sandra for supplying the list with this!)
"Okay,
so they're not having sex. But she dresses up for him, dumps her
friends for him, indulges in prolonged whispery and giggly phone chats
with him, and sprinkles her conversation with 'Bob thinks...' and 'Bob
says...' They are lovers of the mind and the heart, not the body,
and
what
they are having is an _emotional affair_."
"What's
going on here if not sex? Intense emotional bonding. Each finds
a sympathetic listener and exhilirating companion in the other. They
get each other's jokes. Their conversation is lively, marked by mutual
agreement on important issues. An impartial observer seeing them
together would read their body language as flirtatious and peg them as
'dates.'"
"The
partners in these 'sexless' affairs tell each other things they don't tell
their mates. . . The emotional connection between them may be so strong
that they sometimes marvel over intuiting the other's thoughts or 'knowing'
when the phone will ring and the other will be on the line."
"How
do you know if you've crossed over the 'just friends' line. . . ?"
"Thinking a lot about him when you're not with him. . . Talking a lot about
him. . . Sharing your problems, triumphs, fears with him first.
You
got a promotion and called him before your husband or your mother?
he knows you[ve been feeling depressed for months but your live-in doesn't
know? . . . Compromising your productivity at work. . . "
~ How can people
not watch this show???? *lol*
.
.
signifies
lots of shippy bits or significant bits - or maybe just one *really* good
bit (in my own opionion, but, some *are* stated fact!) - check 'em
out. NB: I'm only going by memory, and as well as this, this does
not mean the others don't have USTy bits in them - what the hell - just
watch them all! Signifies a relatively
COMIC episode as only 'The X-Files' can do!!
