Variant Central Homepage
My first contacts with variants came when i visited Woody's Diablo Asylum back in early 1998. Then, i was totally bored with the game and was seeking something to freshen up the game, such as cheats or some modifications. The asylum provided me with the opportunities to play with various interesting set of rules for the different classes and i quickly got hooked back on Diablo. This carried on into Diablo II.
What are variants, you might ask? Variants are simply a term for some rules and restrictions which you follow while playing the character. These restrictions, in general, come in the form of equipment restrictions, spell usage, interaction with other players and villagers (i.e. Griswold, Adria and Wirt). Other rules can be in the form of quests such as in the case of the very extensive Amazon rules. Completion of the quests will bring about the lifting of certain restrictions and leads to greater challenges ahead. In many variants, a role-playing elements have been introduced to instill greater interest in the variant. An example would be the "race" variants (such as dwarves and elves). So far, this is a very small listings of the some of the variants i have gotten myself into but hopefully the number will gradually grow with time.

True Amazons
The amazon variant was a stunning success in Classic Diablo when
Charis first coined the rules. Following the entrance of Diablo II, the existing set of
rules was modified to encompass the change that Diablo II had brought in. Nonetheless, it
is still a fantastic variant for the versatile Amazon class.
Elitist Snobs
Another rip off a Classic Diablo variant, the elitist continues its charge with a
difference. There are now several different kinds of elitists - gem snobs, unique snobs,
set snobs, superior snobs etc - all of which are rather interesting by themselves.
LemmingofGlory coined the new set of rules for this variant.
Holders of Peace
An amazon variant created by |CrAzY|Punn, this variant focuses on Zeus's most powerful
weapon, lightning. The character uses solely lightning skills and use items and weapons to
boost the lightning damage potential of the pike or lance that is used.
Mageazons
One of my favourite variants was named and coined by Jondifool. An amazon that acts and
plays like a mage, this variant throws out ice and fire like nobody's business with
superfast speed and a huge mana pool, just like a sorceress. Wonderful... a must-try for
variant lovers.
Swift Strikers
Boogietron's first variant was the swift striker, a bunch of amazons that goes for speed
all the way, but no, they don't use bows or crossbows. Instead, the weapon of choice is a
spear-class weapon with increased weapon speed and using fast striking skills such as fend
and jab to swiftly overrun opponents.
