UNMASKING NASA HOW NASA HIDES AND FAKES DETAIL ON AND INSIDE ASTRONAUT HELMET REFLECTIONS. |

A Tale of Two Reflections.
THE MAGICIAN'S OTHER HAND
NASA routinely use a combination of misdirection and blatant tampering, to hide the reality of what is seen in their photographs. They've established that - for instance - the lunar surface is a barren empty wasteland, and so it doesnt matter that there are lapses in their photographs in the techniques they use to hide the truth, because the viewer doesnt know about the reality in the first place.
And the viewer cant 'see' or comprehend the mistakes - because what they might see makes no sense to their worldview, to their mental picture of the Moon or Mars, and so they unconsciously disregard what 'doesn't fit'.
Part of commercial stage 'magic' involves misdirection - in other words - making the audience look at one thing while the magician is busy doing something else. NASA use this technique to some degree, exploiting what the viewer 'believes' is the reality, to stop them from looking deeper.
Occasionally though, there are times when this arrogant approach can be used back against NASA itself - who have grown used to being unobserved and unchallenged.
(It's also an interesting lesson in stage magic.)
After decades of total control of what constitutes 'reality' in the minds of billions of humans, it's likely that NASA itself will make some assumptions about what the viewer will focus on, in the photographs. This assumption on their part, which underlies almost all of their 'mistakes' - can be used back at them.
Here's a simple example of visual misdirection used back at NASA, who never thought anyone would look closely at the magicians other hand.
We have two photographs, taken seconds apart. The one photograph contains a strange glowing shape (which is probably just a bit of 'fogging') - and the second photo is clear.
Let's look at the two photographs.
This is AS12-49-7318HR |
You'll notice that if we go in close on the pic with the 'glowing cloud' - the glow is partly visible above the astronaut, and his suit is bright and apparently over exposed. |
Assuming that NASA have to process every single photograph that they release to the public, some to a larger degree than others - having to layer photographs with masks and textures as a matter of routine, in order to continue the deception that has been going on for forty years now..
It's highly probably that things slip through the cracks, here and there. Some photo-technician gets distracted, and his supervisor doesn't look too closely at the finished product. Or else there's something larger that is focused on, which diverts the censors attention.
Now let's take a close look - at the astronaut in the first picture (without the cloud) (AS12-49-7318HR) |
And now towards the area where NASA may not have been as precise as they usually are..A look in their visors, to compare reflections..
And both visors can show us various useful things.
Let's start with the 'cleaner' image.
The first oddity is what looks like two different shadows. (Yes, I'm aware of reflected light behaving oddly, but not to the extent of throwing two seemingly well-defined shadows - neither of which appear to be lined up correctly in relation to the sun, which is apparently visible somewhere behind the astronauts right shoulder - according to the photo.) |
Going in closer and lightening it doesnt help much. But we can see something odd beginning to emerge. |
Notice the shapes.. |
And notice that the 'shadow' at left, appears to somehow be curving UPWARDS. |
Now look at the shadow on the right. Notice how it seems curved back - as if the person throwing the shadow is leaning backwards in some way. This is an illusion. |
And then using unmasking techniques on different portions of the 'reflection' - making a variety of frames of differing quality - we see that the landscape in the reflection appears to be filled with objects and shapes which aren't there in the 'real' photograph..
But let's take a step back and look at something else..
