Almost all of NASA's photographs are censored, edited, manipulated, or in some way 'adjusted' to reinforce the artificial reality that has been impressed on global consciousness since the dawn of the Space Age. Here are just a few examples of the more overt signs of editing..

If we go in close on the supposed horizon, and increase gamma and unmask, we get this:

Whatever the actual background and sky is, it's clearly been removed.

Furthermore, if we select a section of the supposed landscape, invert it (seeing as it shows a suspiciously 'light' color, indicating NASA use of a negative) we can clearly see that the lander is NOT part of the original photograph:

A hi-res close look shows some of the editing at work. Note how the object almost appears to be 'floating' against the real landscape, which is fuzzily visible beyond.
