The Tara treats are a recipe that I had come up with that can
be used as a diet for a recuperating sick hound or as treats, they were
the only thing that I could get Tara to start eating when she was on her
6 week refusal of food and had to be put on TPN. Here's the recipe:
Tara Treats
2 pounds of beef liver (boil and grind or puree)
4 chicken breasts (boil and grind or puree)
5 pounds of potatoes (peeled, boiled, and mashed)
1 dozen eggs
1 cup wheat flour
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 package of Tums (ground finely)
1 tablespoon garlic powder
Cook the meat and potatoes (can boil all together grind up or puree
the meat and potatoes. Blend in the flour, eggs, oil, Tums and garlic.
Spoon onto a cookie sheet with a teaspoon into small mounds. Place under
broiler at 400F for about 10 minutes (until lightly browned on top). When
cool, they can be frozen or will keep in the refrigerator for
