STORY:

The war has raged beyond all living memory. All records that might have explained its causes have long succumbed to air raids, artillery damage, terrorism, and looting. Desolation covers entire continents, and what life remains is mainly mutated beyond recognition by the effects of biochemical and nuclear warfare. Most of these pathetic remnants scavenge in the wilderness, brutally competing with each other for the meagre resources left. Perhaps the only thing to be grateful for is that nearly all the devastating weapons of past times have long since been used up. However...

The Empire of Dis was once a global superpower. Now nought but a single, lonely, munitions base deep in the tundra, it remains committed to victory. Born into war and raised on xenophobic hatred, its people believe this can only be assured by the destruction of all remaining life outside their domain, and with their last remaining legion of bio-weapons, mechanoids, and their heavily-armed flagship the Imperial Zeppelin, they are set to achieve this goal.

Their prime target is the Remnant of Lethe: a recently organised alliance of ex-slaves, mutants and outcasts who have settled one of the few regions still barely fertile and more or less uncontaminated. The leader of this faction is Lucia, herself the product of an abandoned bio-weapons program, involving cruel experiments in genetic splicing and psionic augmentation. The prisoners subjected to these experiments developed advanced psychic abilities, which ironically made them resistant to mental programming and useless as bio-weapons. Before they could be destroyed, however, a nuclear attack wiped out the experimental complex, and only a few specimens in underground containment cells survived, Lucia among them.

In those vast concentation camps and slave factories, away from the contant influence of military indoctrination, outmoded values such as compassion, justice and mercy have kept their last foothold, and the Remnant of Lethe propose to base their new society upon such ideals. First, however, they will have to survive the onslaught of the legion of Dis, and since they lack both weapons and training, that is scarcely probable. In fact, the only hope for this nascent community are the superhuman abilities of Lucia herself, but one rogue mutant, however powerful, versus an entire army of battle-crazed biomechanoids hardly seems a safe bet...

These links contains all the setup files, sound files, and the instruction file (in MS Word .doc format) for the game, in compressed ("zipped") state. Unzip all the files into a single folder (call it "Impzep", and locate it directly on your c:\ drive). Click on the monitor-shaped "setup" icon to load the game. It will suggest installing to your "Program Files", but you may change this if you wish. After installation, a new icon "Impzep" will appear in your "Start" button menu.
