Apple Butter Preserve- Perfect for gift giving! 4 quart apples; sliced 1 quart water 1 quart apple cider 2 lb brown sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon allspice 1 teaspoon cloves

A 1. Wash and cut up the apples, add the water and boil until soft. Press through food mill or sieve to remove skins and cores. A2. Put apple pulp and brown sugar into boiling cider. Continue boiling, stirring constantly, in a figure eight, to prevent burning. A3. When thick, add the spices and cook until thick enough to spread. A4. Seal in sterilized jars.
