Mormons' International Genealogical Index. Caspar Hallenbeck married Rachel Van Wormer 19 April 1793 in Schenectady, NY

U.S. Census -- 1840 -- Salisbury, Herkimer Co., NY -- Page 109

Francis Hallenbeck Household

1 male under 5 Jasper Jr.?
1 male at least 10 but under 15 Rowland?
1 male at least 30 but under 40 Francis?
1 male at least 60 but under 70 ??
1 female under 5 Martha?
1 female at least 15 but under 20 Elizabeth?
1 female at least 20 but under 30 Margaret Ann?
1 female at least 70 but under 80 ??
1 female at least 80 but under 90 ??

Prior to 1850, the census only named the head of household. So I needed to make an educated guess as to the names of the people here:

1	female	at least 80 but under 90	??

total persons in household = 9
total persons in agriculture = 7

Rachel (Van Wormer) Hallenbeck is still alive in 1840, so I
assume the 60-70 year old male in this census is NOT Jasper Sr.
Jasper would be at home with his wife, wouldn't he?

This census also indicates that Martha, Isaac, and Charles attended
school within the year. Also Jasper Sr. over 20 yrs old and cannot
read and write. Also, that both Jasper Jr. and Elizabeth both were
married within the year.

Jasper Hallenbeck died 8 June 1861. 87 years old.

Private Jasper Hallenbeck, of the Union Army, dies at the Warwick
Courthouse in Williamsburg, VA 6 May 1862. He was 24 years old.
He was attached to Company C of the 81st New York Infantry in the
"2nd Oswego Regiment" or the "Mohawk Rangers."
He was Charles Francis Hollenbeck's older brother.

In 1862 and 1866, widow and minor penion papers were filed for Jasper Hallenbeck of Co. C., 81st Inf. the widow's name was Elizabeth Hallenbeck and the minor's name was E. C. Davenport, "Gdn." The widow filed in 1862 and the minor filed in 1866.

The pension information came to me from Lisa Slaski, the rootsweb coordinator for the Town of Ohio, Herkimer Co., NY. Many thanks to the folks at the Herkimer County Rootsweb web site.

Jasper may have had a son named Lincoln Hollenbeck born in 1861. He's listed as stepson of William Davenport, husband of Elizabeth Davenport in Russia, Herkimer, NY in the 1880 census

1880 U.S. Census
Benton, Adair Co., MO	REL	MAR	GEND	AGE	BP FBP MBP
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Francis Hallenbeck	SELF	M	MALE	70	NY NY NY
Margaret Hallenbeck WIFE	M	FEMALE	66	NY NY NY
Henry Hallenbeck	SON	S	MALE	32	NY NY NY
Fannie Hallenbeck	WIFE	S	FEMALE	28	MO MO TN
William Hallenbeck	SON	S	MALE	08	MO NY MO
Alta Hallenbeck DAU	S	FEMALE	03	MO NY MO

I'm guessing William are children of Henry and Fannie.
I'm also guessing that Henry and Isaac are the same person.

There is a Marion Barnes (55 MO KY KY) and Nancy
Barnes (53 TN GA GA) family close by in Benton. I'm wondering
if they are the parents of Fannie. Look! The birthplaces match
and the ages are believable.

Martha "Mattie" Hollenbeck married Joseph Pardee, then B. W. Burlingame.
I think Isaac (or Henry) married Fannie Barnes.

Obviously, either the transcriber screwed up reading our names or the
enumerator wrote it down wrong. No matter, they are the right people.
I know my great grandpa's name wasn't "Anda Hollinbeck"
