Superboy Ashcan #nn (DC, January 1942) This DC ashcan was used to secure the trademark to the title of Superboy. While Superboy #1 did not hit the racks until some seven years later in 1949, DC wanted to make sure a competitor did not obtain the rights to the title and thus produced this ashcan in 1941. Since DC was only interested in securing the right to use the name, they used whatever cover art and interior was at hand. This cover art is from Detective Comics #57 and the interior is from Action Comics #38.There is only one known copy.
