THE MILLENNIUM

ANY DEFINITION OR DOCTRINE OF THE MILLENNIUM MUST BE BASED ON REVELATION CHAPTERS 19 THROUGH 21, FOR THESE ARE THE ONLY SCRIPTURAL PASSAGES THAT DEAL DIRECTLY WITH THIS DOCTRINE.

REVELATION

19:19-21 - The wicked are destroyed at the Second Coming of Christ.  (Psa. 50:3; Isa. 11:4; 13:6; 24:3,6; 66:15-16; Jer. 25:31,33; Mat. 3:12; 13:30,40-42,49-50; 24:39; Luke 17:27,29; 2Th. 1:8-9; 2:8; 2Pe. 3:10-12; Rev. 11:18; 19:21).  Note:  At the same time the righteous are "caught up... to meet the Lord in the air" 1Th. 4:17.  Paul clearly shows that at Christ's Second Coming, He does not establish His kingdom on earth, because He removes the saints form the earth!

20:1-3 - Satan bound a thousand years. Note:  Here is the millennium, after Christ's Second Coming.

20:4 - Righteous are assigned to be judges DURING the millennium.  Note:  See Dan. 7:22.

20:5 - The earth is UNPOPULATED.  Righteous in heaven - wicked are dead.  Note:  Only Satan lives on the earth during the millennium (verses 2&3; Isa. 14:20-21).

20:6 - First resurrection (1Th. 4:16-17; Luke 14:14) is for the righteous (called "blessed and holy"), raised before the millennium, second resurrection, for the wicked (called the "second death"), after the thousand years (John 5:29; Acts 24:15).  Note:  The Bible does not call this the second resurrection, but the "second death."  Therefore the millennium must take place between these two resurrections.

20:7 - Satan is depicted as being "loosed" because he had nobody to deceive during the thousand years he was bound (verse 2).  Thus again proving that the earth was unpopulated (verse 5).  He is "loosed out of his prison" because of the second resurrection, which brings forth the wicked (Rev. 20:8) for him to deceive (also verse 8).

20:8-9 - Satan deceives them into thinking they can capture the New Jerusalem, but they are destroyed.  See Rev. 16:14; 17:14.  Note:  All this is after the thousand years (verse 7).

20:10-11 - Satan is "cast into the lake of fire."

20:12-15 - The judgement of the saints (verse 4) is carried out (verse 15).

21:1-2 - The New Jerusalem comes down.  Note:  This further proves that the earth was unpopulated during the millennium.  For why would the New Jerusalem have to come down to earth if it was already inhabited there?
