Somewhere in Time - A Genealogy Story
I got bit by the genealogy bug after I discovered my mom's family had my grand father's papers from where he had come from Polestina Italy to the United States in the early 1900's. He came though Ellis Island, New York. This got me to thinking about where did my other grandparents come from originally and how did they end up in West virginia. In the past ten years of research I've discovered alot about where my other grandparents come from.
Most of the them came out of Pennsylvania,Maryland,Virginia and Eastern Kentucky. I couldn't have done all this reserch by myself over the past the ten years without the help of other people. One is my sister Patty who has put up with me going off in twenty different directions at the same time at the state archives. The other two people who have helped me with the research on my Dad's side of the family are cousins I found on the internet fall of 2000. They are Carol Setliff and Celia Hartmann...
This first set of Surnames for my mother's side of the family. This group has been a major brick wall for me for a long time. I meet another cousin online in 2000 and we have worked on them for the last 4 years together. Her name is Teri and helps with Boyd Co. Ky webpage off Rootsweb.com .
Most of these people came out of Virginia and Ohio. Most of them settled in two counties located in the Eastern part of Kentucky. Those two counties are Carter and Lawrence. Here is a list of surnames Im looking for:
