Nissan Gazelle hatchback coupe profile Datsun Silvia coupe
This is the mid 1970s model and was based on Violet and 4 cylinder engine Bluebird mechanicals. Originally it was intended to be Nissan's first rotary engined model but this was shelved in the wake of the 1973-4 fuel shortage.
Carrying an 1800 in Japan, in Canada and the USA it was marketed as the 200SX as it had a 2.0 litre motor like the US 610 model.

Wearing typically fussy styling as did most Datsuns of this era, the coupe is a pillarless hardtop, i.e. no B-pillars and rear side windows that wind down. (Thanks for your info, Mark Finlay!)

Datsun Silvia notchback coupe profile Datsun Silvia notchback coupe
This is the early 1980s model. Considerably cleaner body styling and now available as a notch and fastback the latter included a hatchback for the first time. The notchback of these were hardtops (a dying breed!) as well.
