Still known as Luce in Japan, the RX4 name denoted the rotary powered cars, with 929 being used for the reciprocating piston models - this was the second use of the numeric naming schema (1st was the small 808).

The coupe alone had a straight through mid body crease line. Sedans and wagons had two creases with the front one horizontal but fading out on the rear doors and the rear one sloping upward from its source until it turned and ran rearwards horizontally.

There is some similarity to Datsun's 240K C110 Skyline coupe from this angle, not the last time the two companies styling would concur (unintentionally, I'm sure, but see the Bluebird 910 series coupe).
