Still known as Luce in Japan, the 929 name continued elsewhere despite the addition of Protege to 323 and other variations from the number code schema.
However, no longer offered was the two door coupe, probably since Mazda offered a rotary powered Cosmo coupe in Japan (I have seen one in Australia).

I always found this model's boxy styling to be as exciting as a "refrigerator on wheels"; the follow on model became voluptuously rounded and sold very well everywhere except in Japan apparently; it's replacement again reminds one of white goods....

The front windows of this car are deliberately tinted lighter to comply with Australian design rules.

Boxy lines continue to the rear; one advantage though was superior passenger and luggage capacity to the previous model (and the one that followed!)
