This revised front design updated the Falcon's now passe low nose with an upright one, cleverly derived from the now superceded US Falcon derivative, the Mercury Comet. However, the Comet's quad headlights were replaced with duals and a correspondingly broader grille was fitted.

I am not sure but I don't think this colour was original but is very striking. Similarly although vinyl roof coverings were offered during the XP model I am not sure if this is an original fitting.
This car is parked on a slight slope but I think it is also a little drooping in the rear end?

With typical "four-square" early 1960's Ford styling the low roof "slantback" style nevertheless mates surprisingly well with the lower body.

Only minor changes from the preceding XM model are visible here.

Raised tailight position was similar to US models but without the revised side body contours this was a unique combination of parts.

The XP was the last hardtop until the totally Australian XA model arrived in 1972, primarily as the US parent model was redesigned for 1966 with only a pillar coupe (not much more than a 2 door sedan?) and the Australian market hadn't responded particularly all that keenly to these coupes anyway (Monaro would change that!).
