The tale of how this piece came into being is a Canadian Puckhead dream! Read it again I said puckhead. During
December of 1999, I had some discussions with the New Jersey Devils of the NHL. One thing led to another and I
found myself with an opportunity to interview for the Web Director position with the Devils.
I went State side for a week and based myself with family just outside of Providence RI. Originally the interview
for the position was scheduled for the 11th of January and was postponed to the 13th. I took advantage of the postponement
to scoot up to Boston and take in the Leafs @ Bruins game that night.
I'm heading up I93 into Boston from the south and had a safe way to get a couple shots of the skyline so I took
it. I shot at the game that night as well. That is a funked up version of the Bruin Logo on the ice at the Fleet
Center. Got a nice t-shirt with the Bruin Bear on it when applying for a credit card (which I knew I wouldn't
get being a foreigner, but thanks to the folks who let me apply any way).
When I got back to Toronto and started going through my negs ideas started percolating in what I call a mind.
What you see in the "Boston Welcomes You" piece is what I came up with.
FYI ... Boston Welcomes You is not on the retaining wall of I93 and the Mini Van doesn't really have a "Boston
Bruins" graphic on the back of it. You can see the original shot in my scapes section on this site.
