CONDITIONS AND PREDICTIONS FOR Midwest DX!
Based on personal past dx seasons and present conditions in my area.
I'll be going out on a limb with my predictions so bear with me!
I'm not too frequently wrong... :)

COOL NEWS FOR MIDWEST DXERS!
PREDICTIONS FOR January 2008 :

That means it's time to sit down and dig into the dial!
an unidentified spanish station on 760 has been heard the past few morings, but I haven't heard it myself yet.
Possibly Mexico, but not certain.
Keep an ear for deep south, Texas area to Mexico in the hours just before sunrise.
Also, keep the radio on a little later after 7am for your west coast rarities like Idaho, etc.
The westcoast will stay in after the east coast and southeast stuff fades out as the sunrise approaches and passes the west coast states.
Typically California is difficult to hear at this time outside of possibly KNX on 1070 or some other 50KW powerhouse.
Keep listening for sunset skip an hour or so before sunset up to an hour or so after sunset.
Anything from semi-locals in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, etc. to Texas, Louisiana, etc at these times!
AM DX SEASON IS HERE
And in full force!
Conditions are prime for Southeast and East Coast DX starting around 3PM
Even as early as 2PM if you are in a quiet - noise fee location.
East coast should fade a bit by 4PM as the Southeast starts fading up.
Between 5 and 7PM you should be able to pick up a bunch of new stations from
the South US. And with a good antenna, much further south to Mexico and Central America.
Depending on your antenna orientation, you might just be able to pick up a few
European stations around 7PM. But they have proven fairly tough to hear in this part of the US especially without a nice longwire antenna.
My antenna restrictions will not allow me to hear European DX anymore.
Auroral activity may exist over the next month.
So keep the ears opened for blocked or missing "normal" stations. Almost everything gone except a few loud stations and some very very weak ones.
At any rate, DX season is here! (Shut UP and LISTEN!!!!!)
Good Luck and Good DX!

DEC 2010 PREDICTIONS
I just started DXing again. been very busy with work.
DX conditions are starting to pick up now after daylight savings time change in early November 2009.
I just plugged in my radio and hooked up a tape recorder for the first time this year. Conditions seem to be picking up.

Michigan, midwest regions are quite strong by late afternoon 2PMish.
Predictions for increased overseas dxing in late November for those with long wires and quiet places to listen.
Hopeful to hear some deep south at sunset and west coast catches in the early morning pre sunrise hours.
stay tuned. read the old predictions below

JAN 2009 PREDICTIONS
(see below for last years)
I will be updating this page again. Hopefully more frequently this upcoming year.

JAN 2008
YAY! I'm DXing again!
Conditions are prime for east coast DX early in the late afternoon after about 2:30 Central time
WWRL from New York, NY was heard at 3:18PM
Nothing else really exciting orinteresting. CKDO on 1580 from Oshawa is a regular now after about 2:30PM.
Listening on the 27th brought 'regulars' such as 1160 WYLL Chicago, IL. WHK from Iowa, WVJS from KY, and KTOE from Mankato, MN on 1420 amongst the mix of regulars for the winter time.
PREDICTIONS: keep tuning the dial for the east coast early in the evening.
Also anticipate some southeast DX, especially the stations with higher daytime operating powers.
anywhere between 2:00PM and 7:00PM Central time is good to put the ear to the speaker and DX!
.

DX Conditions 530 - 1710 Khz
from my listening post in Duluth, MN USA

up to Nove 11, 2010

nothing exciting to report this year either.
conditions seem to be 'normal' with midwest stuff in late afternoon and early evening after 1PM central time with distances increasing after 2PM. No auroral activity affecting the broadcast band that I've noticed, but keep ears opened for the deep south in late november, december and january again!
old notes below

up to november 28th 2008
previous listing below.
Late 2008 has been slow DXing here. New job, etc. At any rate, coolest catch thus far has been WECZ on 1540 from Puxatawney, PA behind KXEL!
Other DX has proven fairly run of the mill DX nothing exciting, no low powers, SSS or SRS, no auroral activity loggings.SEE BELOW for last years report...
Up to the day : December 28, 2007
NO NEW DX REPORTS 12/27/07

Other than New York on 1600, nothing exciting.
Tune that dial, check the low end 600s through 800s for Mexico and central america around the early morning hours prior to seven a.m.
Should be hearing some cool stuff around 4:30PM through 7PM from the south also!
DX from the midwest is starting to pickup around 6PM. DX is still slow between 3PM and 6PM central time.
This has a lot to do with my limited antenna length right now.
I will be sure to keep this page posted with updates as DX is heard!
It's 4PM now, do you know where YOUR DX is?
