GUNUNG TOK NENEK

Ever heard of this mountain? 99 percent of people in Malaysia have not heard about this mountain either. Even I have just heard about this 4 months ago. The mountain is so wonderful that I'll like to make premiere on this web site.

'Tok' means grandfather. 'Nenek' means grandmother. Why is it called Tok Nenek? This is what the Orang Asli has been calling it, because according to them, there's two peak just next to each other. It seems that, these two peaks have been lonely together for a very long time, similar to old woman and her husband living together all by themselve. Interesting isn't it.

The two peaks is really spectacular. It is visible from Gunung Yong Yap and from there it seems that there's a pair of peaks which looks like table and chair. Some mountaineers in Malaysia call these peaks Table and Chair mountain. I'll show you some pictures of these mountain when my albums arrived here from Malaysia.

How to get there? Here is the easieast way. Climb Gunung Yong Yap and trek another two days travelling in the direction of Gunung Yong Belar. Those people doing Titiwangsa Traverse Version 2.0 will pass through this mountain.

What's Titiwangsa Traverse Version 2.0? It's an expedition treking along the Titiwangsa range passing several mountains, starting from Gunung Yong Yap, Gunung Tok Nenek, Gunung Junction and Gunung Yong Belar, and exit through Blue Valley, Cameron Highland. Want to try this? Till August 1998, only three groups have made it through.
