| GUNUNG JUNCTION
I think very few people is familiar with this name. This name is not registered in any map. And there's so many names assocaited with this mountain. Orang Asli called this "Simpang Tiga" (Junction of Three). However those familiar with doing Titiwangsa Traverse is familiar with this place. Basically, this place is the midpoint between three mountains, Gunung Korbu, Gunung Yong Belar and Gunung Yong Yap. This is the camping place for Titiwangsa Traverse expedition. At the summit, there's a lot of tags, showing who have been to that place, and which route they have taken. Some of them even put names and contact number there. On my personal opinion, these tags are nuisance. Other people don't want to get to the summit and found out that hundreds of people have summitted that peak. While some people want to claim that they are the first/second people to pass through that place and doing the traverse. I think the best way is to put a container at the summit for placing the tags and only those people who wants to have a look at the tags will go and open it. To reach this mountain, there are
3 ways, that is from the three peaks, Gunung
Korbu,
Gunung
Yong Belar and Gunung
Yong Yap. The easieast is from Gunung Korbu and will be discuss in
this website. The trek from Gunung Korbu to Gunung Junction will take 1/2
days, depending on your stamina. After reaching Gunung Junction, you have
a choice whether to turn back and descent through Gunung Korbu or descent
through Gunung Yong Belar or Gunung Yong Yap. I suggest that you descent
at Gunung Yong Belar, because you'll experience different type of weather
over there and can get free oranges too.
