As you may have noticed the updates to
the web sit have been fairly infrequent recently. This is almost totally down to lack of
time but I have also been experiencing some severe technical problems on my PC. For
several reasons the good old days when I was able to update the page bi-monthly are now
long gone so I can only promise to update the page whenever.
One of the changes which I have decided to undertake starting from March 2005 is the format of the page. When the page started out the 800x600 web page size was the norm. Now with the easy availability of better video cards and computer screens I think the size of the default web page should now be increased - yes I do read my counter statistics sometimes. So for the techies amongst you "From March 2005 onwards new pages will best be viewed with a screen resolution of 1024x768 pixels"
The increase in the suggested screen size is unlikely to make much difference to the screen capture picture size. In general I capture at 800x600 and then crop the picture to exclude any superflous stuff. However, if any pictures are bigger than 800x600 then they will fit on your screen more neatly. It also means you get more thumbnails per line which will usually mean more pics per article.
One of the reason for the page not being updated sounds rather strange. One of the problems I have is that I now have so much stuff waiting to go on the page I spend as much time capturing and sorting rather than doing the page itself. Well I am now up to date on that but now I have another problem with a new LCD monitor. It is badly affecting the contrast factor on the colour black which means many of the captures have had to be adjusted to compensate - stick with CRT is what I suggest!
So what is in the cooking pot for future editions? Well that would be letting the cat out of the bag. All I can say is that a sample of what is in store at some time is shown in some of the thumbnails on this page amongst some other old favourites and other miscellaneous stuff. Hopefully that will keep your appetite whetted. If any subject in particular grabs your attention why not let me know and I'll seee if I can push it up the list if enough people agree.
