This letter is regarding a speculative rumor that Carmen may be shot, and therefore released from Guiding Light. I'm writing this letter to express my warmest feelings towards the character of Carmen Santos, portrayed by the wonderful actress, Saundra Santiago. I've never written a letter like this before, so I am not sure exactly what to say. I do know, however, that Saundra Santiago is one of the best actresses on Guiding Light, if not THE best. This letter is an example of how much I support this proposition, and why I think that it is so important. I just want to say, that I have been watching soaps for a long time, and they all have the same thing in common; I saw something different and unique about Guiding Light, and the principle reason that I began watching Guiding Light, is because the character of Carmen attracted me to it...Now, I'm not sure if this letter is going to help, but I hope that it will make you think before you make certain decisions..and this regards everything....but, I just want to state that my feelings about Carmen are very strong, and I feel that by any means, if she is shot, or killed off the show, it will affect the show greatly. She is a great asset to the show, and I truly hope that she is a continuance to the show, because I know, that she attracted many viewers to support Guiding Light, and I am proof of that. I am writing because I have heard rumors of Carmen Santos being taken off the air for good and I personally would miss Saundra on the show. She brings the type of Twist to the show that GL needs ..........Edmund ALONE as a Villian is NOT enough !!! Saundra is a very talented actress who brings a character that many love to hate !!! Somebody from Jovatalk list recommended me to send email to you about Saundra Santiago. My question is that is she leaving for good or is the character, Carmen going on a hiatus for awhile? It is just that I heard from one of the spoilers that she will be around longer. That indicates that Saundra is not gone permanently. What do you think? By the way, I'd like to add a letter to the batch of letters you have to show the support for Saundra, in case if she is leaving for good. Here is my letter: Saundra Santiago is one of the most talented actor in Guiding Light. She is also one of the most beautiful women. She brings an excitement to the show by playing a love to hate villianess. She will be sorely missed if she leaves permanently. Please do not let her go or you will make a big mistake of letting her go. Her storyline doesn't have to be always revolved with Danny and Michelle. There is a plenty of things to write for Carmen. If you are writing her off in order to bring in a new Santos mobster or member of the family, this is a mistake! Saundra and her character are so exciting to watch as Mama Mobster. Taking SS out of the show is like taking everything out of Manny. She gives GL spice and a little extra. She is someone you love to hate and is very talented. You are losing someone special. Actually we are. So please make a deal with her.

I am definitely going to miss both Saundra and her portrayal of Carmen. She is a wonderful actress, and I think GL is losing a big asset to their show by letting her go. One of the biggest reasons I've gotten so much more addicted to GL in the last year is the Santos family storyline. I believe Saundra is the only actress who could truely play Carmen Santos...she makes the character. Just as no one else could ever play Roger Thorpe so perfectly as Michael Zaslow. I am really going to miss Saundra and I feel as though GL won't be the same without her. Although she was only on GL for a short time she made a wonderful and lasting impression on this GL fan.

Such a fine actress should not be cast aside. Hope GL decides she is worth keeping a very talented actress. Carmen in smalltown USA working as a waitress in a diner. Hmmmm has possibilities. The bowling team idea Frank and David came up with was great. Hope to see her reform and stay on the show!

Please, please, please do not let Saundra Santiago go from the Guiding Light. She is a magnificent actress and has really helped to bring that show back to life. She brings so much emotion to every scene that she is in and I can't imagine the show without her now. Let her pay for her crimes if it's necessary... whatever, but don't take her away! Write her in!
