Reading Tablature

Tablature(or Tab for short) is a kind of music that is written especially for guitar. It consists of 6 lines(one for each string) and uses numbers instead of traditional notes(each number designates which fret to play). As you go down the staff the strings get thicker:
E-------------------(high E string)
b-------------------(B string)
g-------------------(G string)
d-------------------(D string)
a-------------------(A string)
e-------------------(low E string)

Here's an example of how to read Tab:

E------------1----------(1st fret- high E string)
b----------1------------(1st fret- B string)
g--------2--------------(2nd fret- G string)
d------3----------------(3rd fret- D string)
a----4------------------(4th fret- A string)
e--0--------------------(Open- Low E string)

Chords in Tab have one number on top of each other. Here's a C major chord in Tab:

E----------
b---1------
g---0------
d---2------
a---3------
e----------

Here's some common symbols used it Tab(note: different people use different symbols but these are the common ones and the people usually have a list of symbols used in the Tab)

p= pull-of(ex. 6p5)
h= hammer-on(ex. 5h6)
b= bend(ex. 6b)
/= slide(ex. 7/2)
x= mute string
~= vibrato

There you have the very basics of Tab, the best way to master Tab is to find your favorite song in Tab and just listen to it and use to Tab to learn the song.
