Children in cartoons are a difficult subject. Often the cartoonist underestimates or overestimates the the
intelligence level of children. As a result, not many cartoons accurately represent children. Many cartoonists,
however, intentionally misrepresent children for the sake of humor. Sometimes, cartoonists hit the nail right
on the head, perfectly describing children. It is a hard line to follow. Because of this, not very many political
cartoonists use children in their cartoons.
Feiffer captures the innocence of youth perfectly in his cartoon book report.
This is very different from the way that almost everybody else depicts children-as wonderfully horrible versions of ourselves,
as shown in Trudeau's lemonade, Wiley's rabbit, and Watterson's chemical truck.
