Lita's Past - Chapter 2
The next day, I headed off to school
excited. I was going to a concert that I am so totally looking forward to with 2
of my best buds and my boyfriend, can life be any more grand? I spun in a full
circle laughing to myself. It will be a couple of days until the tickets are in
my hands but I can’t help but go to the mailbox to check.
I had better busy myself or I’ll go insane with impatience. And keeping busy
will certainly be no problem for me, I’ve got school and work and meeting with
my friends, the days will just fly on by.
Serenity and Joey were really excited when they heard that I had already made
reservations for the tickets.
With the way they acted, you would think that Cave was going to be making a
special appearance at their school. I let loose a chuckle.
But it is pretty exciting, I mean I acted the same way when the new sailor moon
movie came out in theaters. I reached my school, and went in as usual there were
little clusters of kids that were whispering about me and casting me fast
glances, I ignored them.
Looks like the damage has been done, even if Argo took back what he said, still
there are some people around town that saw me use my powers when I used to tell
their fortunes and prevented and accident or two. Still it hadn’t hurt business
at the temple, people still come to me when they want to know about their future
or to buy good luck charms or charms to ward off evil, you would think that all
I do would earn me some friends.
But no. People also think that if a can prevent accidents I can also cause them,
at least the talk has died down. I thought as I changed shoes and walked to
class. Already the buzz at school was about the concert which was still two
weeks away, I sighed in relief. I considered my self lucky that I haven’t had
any premonitions of any accidents or anything. My greatest fear was of getting a
premonition of my parents or my friends. But right now I didn’t have to worry
about that, premonitions happened so rarely to me, which was a good thing.
I think I would go crazy if I had premonitions all the time. I put that thought
out of my mind and focused on more important things like the concert and Yugi,
work and Yugi, my friends and Yugi and did I mention that I was thinking about
Yugi. I sat down at my desk and opened up my notebook, just as roll call was
being taken.
After school as I made my way up the stairs to the temple, I kept glancing up at
the trees, they were really pretty and I’ve always wanted to draw them, but the
thing is that I was a tad lazy and that’s just the excuse. The real reason is
because I would always forget my sketch book at school, and I would end up
drawing on lined paper.
But this time I didn’t forget. I thought to myself, patting my book bag which
held my sketch pad plus the picture of Yugi that I drew the other day, I had
forgotten to give it to him. Joey and Yugi both said that they would come by.
After my shift ended, I walked to a spot of the courtyard that had a pretty good
view of the trees, took out my sketch pad and began to draw. The time passed
quickly, I was just putting the finishing touches, when I sensed a presence
besides me. Looking around, I saw that Yugi and Joey had seated themselves
beside me and were watching me.
“Hi.” Yugi said. He leaned over and looked at what I drew and gave me a kiss on
the mouth
“Hey Lita. Whats up?” Joey said looking over my shoulder at the drawing.
Both boys exclaimed about it. I thanked them, then before I could forget again I
excused myself for a few minutes, jogged into then temple then returned with the
picture of Yugi. He opened it up and showed it to Joey.
“Wow, that’s amazing, think you can draw me right now?”
I smiled and nodded. Joey went to the middle of the courtyard and struck a brave
pose. I cocked my head, flipped my book to a fresh new page and began to draw.
Yugi kept looking over my shoulder, and exclaiming about it, then he kept making
Joey laugh by making funny faces. I smiled as Joey started to yell at him.
Finally I was finished and showed it to Him. He jogged over to take a look.
“Awesome! I-is that really me?”
I nodded. “Yep, that’s really you.”
He took the picture from my hands and studied it. Yugi told him all about the
drawings that he saw of Pokemon and to all the places that I had been to when I
was still a Pokemon trainer. Joey wanted to see them, so we all walked to my
house. While they made themselves comfortable in my living room, I went upstairs
and rummaged around my desk. Finally after I found them, then skipped downstairs
to show to my friends, my mom had been really amazed by my skill in drawing and
so was my dad. I had entered in a couple of contests and had also won a couple
of ribbons, there were in a glass case hanging on the wall in the living room
where everyone can see. Joey and Yugi were both pretty impressed.
Joey liked the picture so much and he asked me if I would be willing to draw
another picture of him and Serenity, I smiled and nodded, and once again I told
him to chose the time and the place and it’ll be all set.
“Great! Can I see your pokemon cards?”
“Sure.” I took out my deck from my back pocket and laid them on the table, and
Joey got out his deck, then we began comparing my fire, water, ice and grass
pokemon to his fire and magic and ground Duel Monsters. Then both of us got into
an argument about whether or not anybody could really remember all of that info
with out getting it all mixed up, and if people really did have that good of a
memory and didn’t have to rely on a list to keep it all straight in his and her
head. Finally Joey, in an attempt to prove me wrong challenged me to a Pokemon
vs Duel Monsters duel.
“Duel Monsters is not a just a big headache, it’s a lot like chess. It’s a
thinking man’s game, you prove what your really made of in a duel. And right now
I’m going to prove to you that your wrong.”
Joey laid down his deck, I laid down mine. Then we dueled, Yugi watched with
interest, I sensed that the pharaoh had come out and was watching also. To make
it even, I adopted 4000 life points to make it more fair to Joey, since in
Pokemon life points were non existent.
Its been a while since I battled but I was confident in my skill. I could tell
that Joey was also confident, he also made fun of my Pokemon. Which made me
really mad.
Nobody insults my bulbasaur. I attacked with Venusaur, and Joey retaliated, the
duel/battle went on with pharaoh and Yugi cheering us both on. Finally I beat
him, Joey ‘s mouth dropped open.
“I can’t believe it, I lost to a Pokemon, what’s worse is that, the Pokemon came
from my best bud’s girl.” He let out a groan and hung his head. I smiled as I
patted Joey on the shoulder telling him that he was a pretty good Battler, and
there was a time when I thought that he was going to wipe me out.
He lifted up his head and looked at me.
“Really?”
I nodded.
“Well, answer me this Lita, how is it that your Pokemon beat my Duel Monsters?”
“ Well, my Pokemon don’t have any attack points and I could attack your monsters
with the same pokemon as many times that I want. Also it pays to learn what can
weaken a monster, like fire can weaken ice and visa versa, do you understand?
“I think I do.”
Yugi clapped his hands and Pharaoh had a grin on his face.
“Great match you two.” said Yugi. Pharaoh agreed. I asked them if they wanted
any refreshments then got up to go to the kitchen. When I got back Joey asked me
if I had considered of becoming a Duel Monsters duelist. I smiled and shook my
head.
“Nah, Pokemon is more my thing, Duel Monsters makes me slightly uncomfortable.”
Both boys, plus Pharaoh blinked. I explained.
“Well, the game is more than just a game if you think about it. First of all at
one time the monsters were real, and they were used to settle disputes, then
they nearly destroyed the world, then they save it, on top of that, from what
Yugi’s told me Duel monsters caused the whole mess of trouble that you guys have
been through.” I sipped at my ice tea, all three boys had thoughtful looks on
their faces.
“In a way your right, Duel Monsters did play a hand that all Yugi Tristan,
Serenity, Tea and I had been though.”
“But you forget the Millennium items also had a hand in all of this, it was my
puzzle that Pegasus wanted and he wasn’t the only one after it, so was the
spirit of the ring. In reality the Millennium items started all of this, the
game was just a way for someone to obtain the items.”
“ Yeah well, I’m still scared of Duel Monsters. Way too many strings attached.”
“That may be true, but the game and all of our experiences brought us all closer
together as both friends and duelists.” Joey said. Yugi nodded in agreement, I
stared down at my tea. I glanced up and saw Pharaoh watching me, I quickly drank
the rest of my tea then announced that I had some homework to do. Both boys,
Pharaoh had already disappeared into the puzzle, agreed to go. After playfully
closing his eyes so me and Yugi could share a quick kiss, Joey and Yugi left.
As they were walking home Joey turned to Yugi and asked him if he had also
noticed that I had looked sad when he had told me about how close he and the
others had become. Yugi nodded.
“It does seem kind of weird, the other day I mentioned that it must have been
hard on her to make a new friend only to end up going their separate ways after
one of them reached their destinations during her travels and she said that she
was used to it.”
“Yeah, that does seem kind off weird, wonder if Tomoe had something to do with
it, I mean I never even seen her hang out with any other people except for us, I
would usually see her around town and she’s always by herself.”
“I wonder why she hasn’t told us about any of this?”
“Maybe she’s too embarrassed to tell us, to tell you.” Joey looked down at his
friend, Yugi looked up.
Turning his eyes back to the road, he told Joey that he didn’t think Tomoe was
behind the whole thing.
“Huh?”
“Well, Lita told me that she met Tomoe when she was first starting out, then she
met him again during the final competition when only one trainer could battle
the pokemon master. In all that time he had no idea that Lita was psychic.”
“If thats true, then why’d he spread those rumors?”
“ I guess he just thought since she knew her deck really real and, she kept
winning all of her battles he must have thought that she was psychic.”
“So that’s why he did that, people would be afraid of her and she wouldn’t have
any friends and so she would be alone. Poor Lita.”
Yugi nodded.
“She knows that we’re her friends now. We gotta show her that we’ll always be
there for her.”
Joey nodded, then the two boys started to talk about what they could give me to
show that they would never leave me.
