Lita's Past - Chapter 1

“Hold still Yugi.” I said. He squirmed uncomfortably in the pose that I had him in.
“Tell me again, why I’m doing this?” he asked. I rolled my eyes.
“Because I asked you to and because you agreed.”
“I only agreed because I thought you were going to position me in a more comfortable pose, and besides the fact that when I asked what the picture of me was for, you drag me off to your house and up to your room.” Suddenly he looked around.
“Do your parents know that I’m up here?”
I nodded.
“Yeah my parents know, the thing is that they’re not back from work yet, so it’ll be a while and by that time they get back we’ll be lounging in front of the tv, or we could catch a flick, if you want Yugi.”
“Actually, after this I want to go for a walk, my leg is killing me.”
“Sorry about that, I’m having a bit of trouble coloring your eyes, I mean they look pink one minute then they’re red the next.”  I struggled with the eye color for a few more minutes, then I was done.
“Wanna see?” I asked.
“Sure.” He hopped off my bed, then leaned over my shoulder to get a better look at the picture that I had drew of him. I looked at his face, and I felt a thrill of pride in the pit of my stomach knowing that I had snagged Yugi before anyone else could.
“Wow.” Yugi said. “I look fantastic! And very mature, are you going to show this to anyone?”
“Only with your permission.”
“Permission granted.” He said as he walked over to my bed to retrieve his millennium puzzle, he put it around his neck then turned to Yami.
I turned also and asked what he thought of it.
“It’s a nice picture of Yugi,  Lita, you really captured his determination.”
“Thanks.”
“Do you do drawings like this all the time?”
“Only when I used to be out on the road, ya know traveling, trading pokemon, training myself to become the best, and beating other trainers and making new friends. Sometimes when I see something interesting or awe inspiring I would take out my sketch pad and start to draw.”
“Can we see them?” Yugi asked. I nodded. I went over to my desk, pulled open one of the top drawers, pulled out the drawings and handed them to Yugi.  He marveled at the drawings of the trainers and the lanscape and the gyms and the leaders.
“These are really good.”
I smiled.
“I’m thinking of going to an art school as soon as I’m finished with High school, after that who knows?”
“There must have been a whole bunch of other trainers that were going in the same direction that you were going in.”
I shook my head.
“Not exactly, we all took different routs to get to the different places where they had the gym leaders. As far as I can tell I must have been at least the fifth or fourth person to beat a gym leader.”
“Did you mostly travel alone?” Yami asked.
My heart thumped a bit, I shook my head.
“N-Not really, I had my pokemon with me plus there were a few trainers that would come along with me, but only for a short while, just until they reached their destinations then we went our separate ways.” I said as Yugi handed me back my pictures, I put them back in my drawer.
“Hmm... then it must have been hard saying goodbye to a friend that you just made and finding yourself being alone again.”
“I’m used to it.” I muttered, shutting the drawer.
“What?” Yugi asked me.
“Nothing” I said, turning to him and leading the way to my bedroom door, we descended the stairs.
“So where do you want to go?” I asked as I opened the front door, Yami had already vanished.
“How about we get some ice cream?”
I nodded. “Sounds good.” I pulled out my wallet to see if I had enough money.
“I got this one Lita.”
“No Yugi, its my treat, a way to say thank you for posing for me.”
“Well okay, it’s the least you can do for making me pose like that, to tell the truth I was kind of embarrassed, but you made me look really cool in that picture. Can I have it? I want to show it to Joey and the others.”
“Sure.” I said, as I slipped my hand into Yugi’s, then I began to tell him about a new CD from my favorite artist Cave, and how in 2 weeks they was going to come and preform in the arena.
“I thought that you might enjoy it and you can invite the gang, including Serenity. Yami you’re invited too.”
“Thanks for the invitation Lita.” Yami said. I began swinging Yugi’s hand back and forth and began to hum a song that I absolutely loved, then I told Yugi that we were about to run into the gang in about 5 seconds. Yugi looked at me with a question in his eyes.
“Hey Yugi!, Lita!” Serenity called to us waving, she began running toward us. Joey and the others were right behind her. I laughed as I caught Yugi’s look, then I told him that I had a premonition this morning. Yugi and I greeted them then invited them for some ice cream. Serenity and the others agreed. All of us walked to the ice cream parlor and while we were eating our ice cream I told them about the concert, Joey and Serenity said that they would love to join us. Joey began to tease Yugi.
“I thought you and Lita were using the concert to get a chance to be alone.” He said laughing. Yugi blushed. I smiled, and told Serenity all about Cave, Tristan and Tea opted on not going with us.
“Guess its it just the four of us then.”
“You sure you have enough money? We could loan you some, the price of tickets are pretty steep.” said Joey, Yugi nodded in agreement.
But I refused their offer, besides I had enough money saved up from my job over at the Cherry Hill Temple.
“The tickets go on sale tomorrow and I know that the line is going to be extremely long but I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to get the tickets.”
“Cool.” said Joey. I told them how people were already starting to get in line at the ticket booth.
“First dibs, ya know?”  I said. “But I just found out that you can get the tickets by mail, all you need is a credit card number and then Boom, in a couple of days they send the tickets over to your house.”
“That sounds way better than sleeping on the cold ground.” said Tea, I nodded.
“I’ll say, if my mom caught one whiff of the news that I was going to sleep on the ground in front of the ticket booth, she’d probably ground me.”
“So, when are you going to call the box office?” Serenity asked.
“When I get home, my credit card is over at the house.” I grabbed Joey by the hand, and began to sing one of the songs that Cave sang.
Serenity laughed. Yugi began to tell everyone about the drawing that I drew of him.
“I didn’t know that. Do you think you could draw me?” asked Joey. I nodded.
“Just tell me the time and place, and I’ll fit you into my busy schedule.” Tea and Tristan excused themselves saying that they had to go home. We said goodbye to them, and Serenity, Yugi, Joey and I kept on walking. Serenity told me about how she was getting better and better at Pokemon.
“Some kids are even challenging me at school.”
“What?” yelled Joey, spinning around and facing her. “Why didn’t you tell me this before sis? I could’ve taken care of those kids for you.”
“Oh Joey, it was just for fun, and besides the kids were really nice about it, they even said that I have a real knack for the game.”
Joey stared at his little sister in amazement.
“Did they really say that?”
She nodded.
“Oh.” Joey said,”Well I’m glad that those kids were nice to you and that you were able to hold your own.”
“Thanks.”
I smiled as well. “You’ve gotta admit Serenity, Pokemon is a lot more easier than Duel Monsters.”
The two boys stared at me in amazement.
“How so?” they both said.
“Well for one thing in Duel Monsters you’ve got to remember all of this information on the special abilities of certain monsters, plus what cards can be used to make a whole new monster, and what certain trap and magic cards can do and the attacks of each and every monster, not to mention all the names. I mean you have to admit, thats a lot of information to take in, I’m not sure how you two remember all of that. Now with Pokemon all that is need to be known is the basics: water beats fire and grass, fire beats water,  flying, ice and grass beats rock. Its pretty simple.”
“She’s got a point Joey, I mean how do you manage to remember all of that stuff not to mention keeping it all straight in your head.”
“Simple sis, I study each of my cards and memorize their special ability, attack, and all the other things.”
I let out a sigh, and shook my head.
“Sounds like one gigantic headache to me.”
“You don’t really mean that do you Lita? It just takes a lot of practicing and patience, besides Duel Monsters is like chess. It’s a thinkers game plus it strengths one’s mental abilities.” Yugi said.
Serenity and I looked at each other. “Headache.” We both said, then she began to tell me all about her battles and how all the kids marveled at her skill.
Yugi became slightly worried.  I hope this doesn’t affect my grampa’s business..
Finally Joey said that he and Serenity were heading for home, he also told me to call him after I had gotten the tickets. I nodded, then they both walked away.
Yugi and I walked in silence for a little while. Finally I looked at him out of the corner of my eye.
“Yugi? I’m sorry if I insulted you, Please don’t be mad, I was just comparing the two games, but they do have a lot of similarity.”
“I’m not made at you Lita, I’m just surprised that you felt that way about duel monsters.”
“I’m sorry I said those things, I really should have more respect for that game, it did save the world a couple of times.”
Yugi smiled.
“To tell the truth Lita , sometimes even I thought the game was just that, so you’re not the only one that thought that way.”
I smiled, feeling better. After dropping off at my house and giving me a good bye kiss, I went upstairs and dialed the number to get the tickets.
