The Stuff of Dreams

Yami pounced at Yugi… Yugi woke suddenly Yugi had that dream again “that the third time this week that I had that dream” said Yugi to himself Yugi didn’t care that he was talking to himself he was too tried to care “I wish I knew what it means” Yugi continued he yawned, “then maybe I could get some sleep.” Yugi said still talking to himself. He looked his clock radio it said 2 am “The last time I woke this early was when grandpa he went crazy and said that enormous ants was after him.” said Yugi. Yugi was becoming grumpy and irritably, Yugi attempted to go back to sleep but it was pointless he was one of these people who once they wake up it was almost impossible to fell back to sleep. Since Yugi can’t sleep he sneaked downstairs and on the TV. He channeled surfed when he can’t find anything, which interested him he shuffled to his room. Yugi examined the clock radio read 4:30 the clock radio went off “this is Zxow 95.3 your station for all kind of music for classical to rap, now to get you in the summer mood here some Jamaican music”. Said the radio. Yugi tried to remember why he set his alarm radio. “ O yeah I suppose to meet my friends at the park.” Said Yugi. Yugi got out in a trace he seemed hypnotized, after a few hours Yugi’s Grandpa was sizzling bacon in a frying pan. Yugi ran down the stairs and he ran to the kitchen he grabbed an apple of the kitchen table took a bite and almost went out the door. “Hey Yugi where you going in such a hurry?” asked Grandpa. “To the park to meet my friends “ said Yugi. “Ok be care…”said Grandpa. Yugi don’t want to hear the rest because it made Grandpa tell one of his tall tales, and Yugi was to grumpy to hear his tall tales today so he just rolled his eyes and walked out the door. Yugi walked to the park he sat on a red beach waited for friends. After a while Yugi fell asleep on the bench. Yami pounced on Yugi… Yugi woke up again. Yugi looked at the millennium puzzle “why I do keep having that dream?” Yugi thought to himself. “Do I not trust Yami that can’t be right, I mean I am suppose to help him to save the world, why would I help someone that I don’t trust, there must some be another reason.” Said Yugi. Joey walked into the park he looked at his watch and Joey searched for any of his friends he saw Yugi sitting in one park’s bench lost in his thoughts. “Yugi always lost in his thoughts, I don’t beam him Yugi has the world on his shoulders” Joey though to himself. Just then Tristan and Tea joined Joey. Joey went to Yugi “you ok Yuge?” said Joey in his likeable New York ascent. Yugi looked at Joey with tried eyes “sure perfect ” said Yugi sleepily. “You seem sleepy did Grandpa go crazy again?” asked Tristan. “No thank goodness,” said Yugi. “ Then what? ” asked Tea. “It’s long story,” said Yugi. They all gathered in front of Yugi “Come tell us” said Tea. “Fine” said Yugi grumpily; So Yugi explained his dream to his friends. “ Wow Yuge no wonder you can’t sleep” said Joey. “Do you know what means?” said Tristan. “ Not a clue” said Yugi. “Here maybe this will help,” said Tristan he took out a wrinkled white business. “ I’ll try anything to get some Z’s,” said Yugi. “ Yugi want us to come with us?“ asked Tea. “No!” “ Dreams are a personal thing Yugi has to find out what it means by himself,” said Joey. Yugi looked at his friends and give an exhausted smile. Yugi looked at the white card that Tristan give him. The card said “ don’t understand a dream come to me the dream doc one free visit” it was singed by Jessica whoever she was don’t have a last name but it did have an address. “Trisan where you get this?“ asked Yugi. “ Don’t know I was just walking when I found on the ground” said Tristan. “ Come on guys let’s go no point of wasting the whole day” Said Tea. So the rest of the day Yugi spend with his friends just hanging out after a while it got dark. All Yugi’s friends said “goodnight” and all went home except for Yugi. Yugi was alone in deserted street he heard his heart racing Yugi was sure that the unthreading shadows would become his foe and hurt him but when Yugi held the millennium puzzle in his hands Yugi felt anything is probable and the shadows were less intimidating. Yugi took out the white business card from his front pocket. He followed the address to a mom and pop looking store with neon lights Yugi opened the door and found a desist office waiting room, tacky but comfortable chairs and a table at each end of room with stack of magazine. Yugi sat looking that the pictures in the magazines. The door opened a guy come out he looked like a biker he had a tattoo on his shoulder of a motorcycle popping an wheelie and the word “born to be wild” was written under the motorcycle in fiery letters. A tall girl come out and leaned against the doorway. She had curly red hair, orange T- shirt, jeans and cowboy boots. “ So my dream is about the fear I have that I won’t find love before I die” said the biker. “But I am sure that I sure won’t happen to a cute guy like you“ said the girl. The biker blushed “…aaa… thanks doc” said the biker he opened the exit and almost went out. “Hey tell your friends about me” said the girl. “O I will!” shouted the biker and left. Yugi got up and look up at the girl and smiled a weak smile “You must be Jessica” said Yugi, the girl looked down at Yugi and returned his smile “yeah that’s me” said Jessica. “Hi I’m…”said Yugi “o need to tell me your name you’re that famous Yugi right?” said Jessica. Yugi just nodded his head Jessica looked into Yugi’s face his eyes were blood slot he looked like he hasn’t sleep in days, which wasn’t unusual for her. “ Pursue me to my office” said Jessica. Yugi followed like a trail horse, he was so tried she could jumped a cliff and he would followed her. Jessica went to low table and sat on a pillow Indian style. Yugi sat on the other side. “Here have some tea,” said Jessica. Yugi graciosity took the tea and slipped it gingerly. “So tell me about your dream” said Jessica. Yugi closed his eyes for one second but jerked back opened “well it’s so hard to explain” said Yugi. “If your tried there’s a bed over there” said Jessica. She pointed to a king bed it had a hideous bed sheets it looked it wasn’t even worthy of Trash r us. Yugi didn’t care he was sleepy he would sleep on a bed of nails of he had to. “ I see that the tea worked,” said Jessica mysterious. “ What are you talking about?” asked Yugi. “ I put some sleeping medication so that I can see your dream for myself I sorry I didn’t tell you sooner said Jessica. “ it’s ok” said Yugi he climbed into bed and soon as he laid down he slept peacefully. “ Ok now to see if the medicine worked on his senses said Jessica. Jessica took some earmuffs she blowed a air horn Yugi wasn’t woken “good’ said Jessica. Jessica saw the millennium puzzle she tried to take it off but the puzzle glowed “Yugioh!!!” shouted Yugi and turned Yami Yugi “what are you doing?” said Yami smiling that trademark “ don’t mess with me” smile he got up and sat Indian style on the bed and looked at her. “Well I thought that necklace might choke Yugi …or I mean you,” said Jessica. “The chance of that is slim to none,” said Yami. “Fine whatever I will leave it don’t have a cow” said Jessica testily, Yami turned back to Yugi and slept. Yami turned into his phantom form and sat in the chair nearby to Yugi. There was something about Jessica Yami couldn’t put his finger on it but he can’t trust her. So Yami watched Jessica like a hank, Jessica rolled in what looked like it was a TV she put a section cup on Yugi’s forehead which was attracted to what seemed to be TV. “ Do you know what you are doing?” asked Yami. “You’re still here?” said Jessica. Yami didn’t say anything Jessica didn’t see anyone there “well?” asked Jessica. Yami sighed “over here” He said Jessica just saw an empty chair. “ Well of course I know what I am doing I am Kabia’s sister” said Jessica. “ Hold on you’re Kabia’s’ sister he never mentioned a sister “ he said. “ That’s because he don’t know about and I plan to keep it that way,” said Jessica. “ Why’s that?” asked Yami, “ Between you and me Kabia needs to learn some manners “ said Jessica smiling. Yami smiled with pride for one second but the smile turned serious. “So that why I can’t trust because she is Kabia’s sister that isn’t fair maybe I should of get to know her before I judged her” Yami thought to himself. Jessica put anther section cup on Yugi’s forehead. “ What is that?” asked Yami, he looked at Jessica and cocked his head to the side just like a puppy would do when you’re trying to teach him new tricks. But of Jessica course don’t notice “Glad you asked it’s a dream moderator it records a dream and shows it to us “ said Jessica proudly. After a while Yugi woke suddenly “are you ok?” asked Jessica. “Fine” said Yugi he got out of the bed and sat in a chair beside Yami. Jessica Put on the dream moderator on “let me what been bothering you “ said Jessica. Both Yugi and Yami watched the moderator as it showed the short version of Yugi’s dream. Yugi stood in middle of field of flowers then the blue sky turned dark then Yami shouted in pain and then he pounced on Yugi… Jessica looked at Yugi “ remember any of this” said Jessica. “Sort of” said Yugi. “ What I think it means is that you’re afraid that your friend might turn against you and hurt you,” said Jessica. Yami was shocked by what he saw on the dream moderator “but why would I hurt Yugi I would never do that ever” said Yami angrily. “Well I can tell that but I didn’t know I didn’t see the whole thing so I could be wrong ”said Jessica “ There must be some other reason your friend attacked you” said Jessica. “ I can’t think of anything,” said Yugi. Jessica sighed “there a way to find out” she said she went to the dream moderator “follow me” said Jessica Yugi and Yami followed her as she rolled the moderator to the back room. It was dark until Yugi hit the lights the room was pretty much empty except for the silver capsules. “You’re looking at the dream transponder it will take you to your dream” Jessica said proudly. “ Ok let’s go” said Yugi. “Are you sure because whatever happens to you there is for real so if you die there that’s it” said Jessica. “ Has anyone come back alive? ” asked Yugi. Jessica shake her head. “Then we’ll be the first,” said Yugi. “Yugi you sure you want to take this risk?” asked Yami. “ Yes” said Yugi heroically Yami admired his courage but he wasn’t sure they would make it so Yami disappeared. Yugi stepped into the dream transporter and said, “let’s go”. “Ok Yugi remember it’s your dream and anything is possible,” said Jessica. She stared pushed random buttons. “Are you ready” asked Jessica. Yugi give a thumbs up Jessica pushed a button and with that a white zap come and Yugi disappeared. “ Good luck Yugi” said Jessica.

A white zap appeared in the perfect blue sky Yugi appeared in middle of the sky he fall and an unicorn ran saved him. Yugi found himself on a unicorn back. “Aaa…. thanks” said Yugi “you’re welcome” said the unicorn. Yugi was a little surprised that the unicorn could talk but then remembered this was his dream. Yugi got off the unicorn back and look at the plains, which was covered with sparking white flowers making the place more pretty. All the cute and furry animal ran free in the beautiful land Yugi heard the birds in the tress one of the birds landed on Yugi’s finger and sang a song for him. But the bliss was soon silenced, the bird on Yugi’s fingers flew away all the cute and fuzzy animals ran away the unicorn almost went with them. “ Where you going?” said Yugi. “Something evil is coming “ said unicorn and ran joined the other animals. Yugi wanted to ran away too but it was as if his feet stuck in the ground. The perfect blue sky turned black by the treating black clouds. The dark clouds started to plunged black snowflakes, the snowflakes was destroying the white flowers by turning them in the black dust. Yugi was a little frightened alone in the gloomy world. Yugi a howl behind him, Yugi turned around to what the sound he saw a pack of vicious wolves baring their and licking their lips. “Eee” said Yugi, he tried to get away but Yugi he saw chains on his ankles. “They sure don’t look friendly” Yugi said to himself. The wolves stared to form a circle around Yugi it was obvious that he was going to be their next meal. The alpha wolf stepped forward from the group the alpha wolf looked ready to struck him. The alpha wolf pounced, Yugi covered his face and closed his eyes a shadowy figure jumped in the front of him Yugi heard a familiar voice say “mind crush”. The alpha wolf flew and landed across the floor, Yugi opened his eyes and saw Yami’s back he protecting Yugi from the brutal wolves. The alpha wolf laid unconscious on the ground the other wolves went to see if their leader was alive. The alpha wolf started to get up it shook like a wet dog. Yami looked at the alpha wolf as if to say, “ I would leave if I were you”. The alpha wolves growled at the other wolves and they left it was as if they get the message. Yami turned around to Yugi “ are you ok?” asked Yami. “Shaken but not shirred,” said Yugi. The wind made Yami’s cape flapped making him look like a superhero. Yami bend down to get the cuffs off Yugi’s ankles but as much as he tried they wouldn’t come off. “Well since cutting off my feet is not an option I guess I am stuck,” said Yugi. Yami got up and looked Yugi he put his heads on his hips. “ Where there is a will there’s a way ” said Yami “but that’s a idea “ he joked “ didn’t even…” said Yugi, Yami hold a hand of to Yugi “what?” asked Yugi. “Shh I feel something evil is coming” said Yami. Yami stood in front of Yugi protecting him from whatever monster threaten to destroy them. Yami had a look on his face then seemed to say, “harm Yugi and you mess with me”. A black fog rolled in the only thing Yugi was Yami everything else was dark, Yami wasn’t afraid of fear in fact it seemed that fear was afraid of him, but the more Yami thought about what he saw in the dream moderator the more frightened he become, Yami was afraid that the evil thing that he scented would make him harm Yugi or worst. All the sudden Yami felt pain in his head his head hurt him so bad he screamed in horror pain. “Yami what’s wrong?! “ said Yugi worried. “So… much…pain” said Yami. Yami fell on his knees held his head is was as if he was being tortured. Yugi was worried, he wished he could help Yami but the cuffs on his ankles keeping him for going anywhere all Yugi could do was watch in horror as Yami shouted in pain. Then Yami stopped screaming and his arms limped in his side he rose his arms still limped to his side,. A golden torch appeared out nowhere a hooded figure sat on the torch Yugi saw that the guy had the Millennium rod once he saw that he knew who the guy was. “Marik” Said Yugi and Marik smiled the smile of the devil under his hood. “Come to me Yami “ said Marik. “ Yeah good luck with…” said Yugi, Yami obeyed and came to Marik. “ Yami what are you doing?!“ asked Yugi hysterical to Yami . “Bow to me pharaoh” said Marik. Yami obeyed again and knelled to Marick like an obedient dog. “ Yami hello this guy the enemy you don’t bow down to the enemy!“ said Yugi. “Destroy Yugi” said Marick. Yami get up and turn around with this zombie look on his face, The words “ the dark side” appeared on Yami’s shirt, his pointed teeth grew longed and stuck out of his mouth and his fingernails longer and sharpen, his skin was blackish gray, Joey, Tristan, and Tea appeared on Yami’s side with the same “dark side” words on their t-shirts, the same zombie looks on their faces, and the same long pointy teeth and sharp nails. Then the zombie looks turned evil grins. They all bared their teeth and curled the fingers into a shape of a claw. “As you can see your friend can easy turn against you ”Marik said evilly. “So this is the end of me huh I am going to die by my friends killing me” Yugi thought. Yami and the rest pounced on Yugi. Yugi covered his face and closed his eyes the Millennium puzzle glowed and created a shield Yami and rest bounced of the shield and dragged on the floor. “Get up you fools and try again,” said Marik, they all obeyed. Yugi opened his eyes “what happened” Yugi thought. Yugi watched Yami and all his friends leaped again. Yugi closed his eyes against but opened them again. He watched as the millennium puzzle created another shield and they all bounced off. Yami try to shatter the shield and so do everyone else. Yugi noticed something Yami didn’t have his millennium puzzle “no wonder Yami was so easy to control, he didn’t have his millennium puzzle to protect him, and I have my puzzle that’s the only reason I am not bowing down to Marik.” Yugi said to himself. Yugi looked to Marik his item was glowing Yugi figured that it was controlling all his friends, He had to destroyed it but how he didn’t have power like Yami did, then Yugi remember what Jessica told him “Yugi remember it’s your dream anything is possible”. So Yugi looked like an enraged animal, he held out a hand and controlled the shield he pushed the shield and it pushed his friends to the ground for the third time. The millennium puzzle glowed and the cuffs on his ankles turned into smoke and disappeared from Yugi’s ankles. He went to Marik his face still like an enraged animal. Yugi’s Millennium puzzle glowed and Yugi looked like he was hold an imagery ball, a small dot appeared between the space where Yugi was holding an invisible ball it grew into a small baseball. “Yami protect me” said Marick, “yes master” said Yami automatically but his voice wasn’t human Yami obeyed and jumped in front him smiling that trademark “don’t mess with me” smile. Yugi lifted one of his legs up and pitched the small growing ball and took aim at the millennium rod. Yami tried to block the ball luckily he was to slow and missed and ball hit the millennium rod and it break into a million pieces “I knew that summer in baseball camp would come in handy” said Yugi to himself. “Get him” Shouted Marick. Yugi’s friends gathered near him baring their teeth Yami tackled Yugi to the ground he took one of his hand with the sharpen fingernails almost it lugged forward the nails were an inch from Yugi’s face but then Yami stopped and put his hands on head. “ OOO my head …what… what happened?” asked Yami he felt as if an Indian tribe was sending him a secret message by pounding drums in his brain. The words “the dark side” disappeared from his shirt and his teeth and fingers were back to normal. Yami get up and helped Yugi up, Joey, Tristan and Tea went to Yugi they all looked at him confused. Yugi was happy to have his friends but he want revenge on Marik for making them his slave’s “ok the heck is going on?“ asked Joey. “Marik controlled you with his item and made you try to kill me” said Yugi. “Is that right?” asked Yami furiously, Yugi’s friends all turned around and faced Marlik their face sour and irritated. ”Your outnumbered” said Tristan “wrong” said Marik “just because, Yugi destroyed my millennium rod does mean that can be that I can that easily defeated.” Said Marik proudly he hold his hand an Egyptian symbol appeared and glowed and it shot a beam which head towards Yami. Yami was surprised he was in trouble, Yugi took off his millennium puzzle off, “Yami” yelled Yugi, Yami turned to Yugi “caught” said Yugi he throw the millennium to Yami, Yami caught it and put around his neck, the item glowed and put a shield and beam hit the shield and turned into smoke. “Yugi you fool you leave yourself unprotected,” said Marik wickedly. ”Yugi leave out of this or I’ll,…” said Yami threatly “or you’ll going stare at me to death ooo I am so scared.” Said Marik sarcastically another beam shoot out of Marik’s hand again and hit Yugi’s forehead and a Egyptian symbol glowed on his forehead immensely Yugi fell on his knees yelling and screaming in pain. “Yugi!!!” everyone yelled. “ Come on there must be something we can do to help Yugi” said Tristan worried, “there’s nothing you can do in a few minutes Yugi going to be my loyal slave just like Yami was” said Marick evilly. “The dark side” started to appeared on Yugi’s shirt, his pointed teeth starting to grow longer and so did his fingernails his skin was turning blackish gray. Yami felt useless he felt like he failed Yugi but then he remembered that thanks to Yugi, Marick didn’t have his item to protecting him so Yami could send to the shadow realm. “I had it,” said Yami furiously he held his right and shouted on top of his lungs “mind crush”. Makia screamed and disappeared the only thing left of him was his robe. Yugi was back to normal he looked at Yami and fainted. “Yugi?” asked Yami worried. A white zap appeared and with that both Yugi and Yami disappeared.
Yugi appeared on the floor of the dream of the dream transporter Jessica went him to see if he was ok. Yugi’s millennium puzzle glowed and he turned into Yami Yugi Jessica smiled at him. “You very luckily “ said Jessica “I guess lady luck ready likes me” said Yami laughing. “I think Yugi’s dream about the fear that you will be easily controlled by this Marik without your item protecting you” said Jessica professedly. “Is that right?” asked Yami politely. “but since You and Yugi defeated him ,I don’t think you’ll have nightmares any more” said Jessica. “That’s good to know, “ said Yami. “Will Yugi ok?” asked Yami. “Of course he just needs some rest but I am surprised he even live ” said Jessica. ”Listen I am I acted like such a…“ said Yami embarred. “Such a jerk” said Jessica fishing his sentence “ it’s cool you must be to the type that people are nice to you only if they want something am I right?” said Jessica. Yami blushed “ sort of” said Yami opened the exit “ bye and thanks “ said Yami he headed outside into the cold night. Yami hurried home after all a good dream was waiting for him there.
