The next day I was waiting for my best friend Serenity, she was Joey’s kid sister and he had introduced us. We liked each other the second we saw each other and a friendship had blossomed we went to Joey’s house and had driven him crazy with our girl chatter, and we had only laughed at him and chased him around the house with nail polish and perfume. Soon she came up the stairs huffing and puffing, I laughed. “Yeah the stairs are really hard for first timers but they get used to it and its great exercise.” I said as I helped her up the last step. “I’m not sure how you do this every day.” She puffed. “See previous answer.” I said. We both grinned. Then we sat down and I taught her how to play Pokemon. She was a pretty good student and mom really liked her, sometimes she would invite her to the house where she would sing with my mom on the karaoke machine. We would take turns singing to our favorite songs, she had a nice voice, Joey would grin whenever I told him that. Sometimes we would sing to my Jem CD, my favorite songs was Depends on the mood I’m in, Time is running out,; Serenity loved to dance to that song. She loved Too close for comfort, and Twilight in Paris, We’re off and running, we liked most of the songs on the CD. Near sunset she had to go home, we both hugged each other then we joked about how the temple should put an escalator on the side for the people that didn’t want to walk up all those stairs. Serenity took a deep breath then started down the stairs. She was a block away when she was joined by a boy and a girl. “So did she do anything to you?” asked the boy. Serenity looked at him confused for a moment. “He’s talking to you.” Said the girl giving Serenity a shrewd look. “Oh, I’m sorry. Who are you talking about?” The two kids let out groans. "He’s talking about the psychic that works up in the Cheery Hill Temple." snapped the girl. “Oh you mean Lita Tsunami, she just taught me how to play Pokemon, it’s really fun.” “No, did she teach you how to read people’s minds, or see the future, or see ghosts?” “No, why would she teach me that?” “Are you dense? There are rumors saying that Lita is a psychic and that she cheated during the Pokemon finals.” Said the girl. “I heard that she was dueling a boy from her school the other day and not only did she beat him, but she also cast a spell on him too.” said the boy. “That’s just a bunch of silly rumors that someone spread just to mean.” said Serenity; she tilted her head up. “Well believe what you want, I’m staying away from the temple.” Said the boy, the girl nodded also. “You won’t catch me near that bewitched place.” Said the girl, and then they both walked away from Serenity chattering. Serenity stopped for a minute, then she shook her head. Now you’re not really going to believe that stuff are you? But for the next couple of days whenever she came to see me she would notice groups of people of in corners whispering about something, and whenever Serenity or I or any of my friends would pass them they would stop talking. Finally Serenity asked me whether or not the rumors were true and I denied it. The next day she phoned Joey and asked him about the rumors, Joey hearing that someone was spreading rumors about me again demanded “Who told you that?” “This boy and this girl that I met while walking home after Lita showed me how to play Pokemon.” She said she went on to say what they had told her. Joey said that he’ll call her later, then he hung up. I think I know who is spreading these rumors.  I got to warn Lita. He called my house but got no answer, glancing up at the clock he realized that I must still be at work. He quickly grabbed his jacket and took off. He ran down the street to the temple and he caught up with Yugi. “Yugi!” he shouted. Yugi turned then he smiled at his friend but then his smile faded when he heard the news that Joey had brought. “I thought we told that guy to knock it off with the rumors.” said Yugi angrily. “Yeah well, it seems like he’s doing the opposite, come on we gotta tell Lita.” They both ran up the stairs where they saw me dancing to a couple of techno songs. I smiled when I saw them. “Hi guys.” I said twirling around. “Lita, I got some bad news for you, looks like that boy that was spreading the rumors around is still spreading them.” I stopped dancing and looked at them. “Why is he still doing this to me? Come on I’m going to find him and give him a piece of my mind.” I turned off the radio, and took off with my friends. We ran down the street, just as we were about to turn a corner we were met by Argo Tomoe, he was the boy that was spreading the rumors; also with him were a bunch of his lackeys. “Argo, you had better stop spreading this rumors about me.” I shouted at him. “Not everyone believes them.” “Then I’ll make them believe, I’m surprised that your friends don’t believe them.” “My friends have better sense than to believe a bunch of lies.” “They’re not lies there the truth, you have some sort of power and I won’t stop until the title of Pokemon Master is given to me and you lose all of your friends.” He snapped. “And when that’s over and done with no one will believe you when you try to deny it. In fact already half of the school believes in the rumors, all I have to do is convince the former Pokemon Master that you beat and the title will be mine.” “But I worked hard for that title, you don’t deserve it. You’re nothing but a slimy snake.” I cried. Tears were welling up in my eyes. How did this happen? How does he know about my powers? If he manages to convince everyone that I have these powers I’ll lose all of my friends. I’ll lose Yugi! I started to cry. “Alright that’s it!” shouted Joey. He cocked his arm and ran toward Argo ready to punch him out, but one of Argo’s lackeys leapt forward and punched him hard in the gut. Joey went down, they were about to beat him when Yugi jumped in throwing punches. After a couple of moments Joey got back on his feet and punched some guys too. Two of the boys jumped me, they were going to try and take my cards! I kicked one of them away, then with on arm free I landed an uppercut on a boy’s chin. I looked over at Yugi, he and Argo were sharing blows. Joey was out numbered. I charged forward to help him out, just then another boy appeared. It was Tristan! “Need any help?” He asked with a grin on his face, and he, Joey and I fought them off. Finally we had them all beat and they retreated. Argo took off also shouting that he has the proof he needs and that he’s going to take me down. I looked at my friends. “Thanks you guys. I’m not sure how I’m ever going to repay you.” “Hey, no sweat Lita, any friend of Yugi’s is a friends of ours.” said Tristan. I smiled at him and hugged him, Joey and Yugi. “Are all of you alright?” “Yeah, a few bruises, but we’re okay.” Said Yugi. Tristan said that he was going to help Joey home, just in case those guys show up again and try to jump them. Yugi and I saw them off, then Yugi asked me why Argo was so bent on spreading these rumors and saying that they were true. Yugi, I wish I could tell you, but if I tell you I’m not sure if you’re ever going to speak to me again.  I shrugged my shoulders. “I don’t know, I guess its because he’s really jealous of me, seeing that I became Pokemon Master and he didn’t.” “Hmm, Well I’ll pick you up tomorrow, before you go to school that way if he tries anything I’ll be there.” I smiled at him. “Thanks Yugi.” And we walked to my house holding hands.
