TransMountain 20K Challenge
The most difficult and
rewarding race in El Paso. A climb to 5,250 ft at its highest point. This
is my most favorite local race to run. A great way to test
your mettle! The average is about 2000 runners and walkers.
- A grueling 12+ miles out and back, to the summit of those mountains in
the background. The weather is typically cool and windy, but great. The
course starts on the west side of the Franklin's next to I-10. It's 6
miles up, with mile 5 the worst grade of the road. After a u-turn, there's 6+ more
miles down hill, where if you don't pace yourself right, you'll beat
yourself to death. The race ends at the starting point ( new to 2007).
