Scores at half way stage below show that Fremantle's highly rated squad should get home final in Div 1 - 2nd place looks to be close. Midland B and Metro B2 should battle for home advantage in Div 2. The Junior CC team (all aged U14) should get home advantage in div 3 :
Division 1 Metro A 1.5 Fremantle 2.5, Midland A 2 Metro A 2, Fremantle 2.5 Midland A 1.5
Fremantle 5
Midland A 3.5
Metro A 3.5

1999 Division 1 Midland A 17 Fremantle 12 Metro A 10.5 Midland B 8. After clearly winning the B division for the last few years Midland B replaced Perth in the A grade. The scores above show how convincingly Midland A dominated this division. The 4 Midland players Danny Dwyer, Timo Farber, Tristan Boyd, Rob Maris all won their board prizes. Fremantle used about 10 players and so only just finished above Metro A and Midland B.
Division 2 scores : Perth A 10.5, Metro B 9.5, Midland C 4. Disappointingly only 3 teams competed with Perth A just edging out Metro B.
Division 3 scores : Womens & Girls 12.5, Metro C 11.5 Junior Chess Council 10 Perth B 9.5 Westrac 8.5 Midland D 8. This extremely close division could have been even closer. In the last round Midland D were missing their top 2 players and so went down 4-0 to the Womens & Girls team who finished 1st. A great division of 6 very well matched teams.

1998 Division 1 Midland A 16 Fremantle 15 Perth 10 Metro 7 it should be noted that this includes the round 4 forfeit win by Perth over Metro. Fremantle have got the strongest squad : Partis McCamon Mandic Boucek Davison Silas Saffen. Midland do not have their top 3 players from last year with Barber in London and Farber and Ellis now playing for Perth, however their squad : Dwyer Wilkins(M) Boyd Dempster Maris(R) finished first. Metro are similar to last year : Hazelton Saroingsong Roza Butcher Lilly but usually only have 1 of their top 2 players available otherwise they would be somewhat better. The Perth team : Farber Ellis Dibden Curtis are only marginally behind Midland onrating and so have potential.
Division 2 scores : Midland B 13.5 Westrac 6.5 Metro B 4 the inconsistent availability of some Fremantle players meant they had to withdraw. The new team of Westrac, organised by Robert Ivaldi, surprisingly did better than Metro B, however Midland B : Lakner Galvin Wilkins(T) Maris(F) were much too good.
Division 3 scores : Metro C 14.5 Perth 12.5 Womens & Girls 11.5 Midland C 9.5 clearly this is the closest division 3 we have had which made for a very interesting time for all concerned but Metro C have an average rating 200 points above the other teams.

1997 Division 1 Midland A 13.5 Fremantle 13 Metro A 11.5 University 10 Final : Midland A 2.5 Fremantle 1.5
Division 2 Midland B 10.5 Perth 8 Metro B 5.5 Final : Midland B 3 Perth 1
Division 3 Midland C 19 Metro C 14 Womens & Girls 11.5 Midland D 3.5 Final : Midland C 3.5 Metro C 0.5
Midland easily won divisions 2 & 3 but in division 1 all teams were of similar strength and the Fremantle v Midland match was the strongest in WA history.
