"I'm sorry, long-lost sisters? We have-had a sister. She, uh, she just passed away recently." Piper stared at Paige in shock. How could they have another sister? Could they have another sister? "Yes, that's why I'm here. My parents, I was never told their names as they'd wanted to put me up for adoption in secret, dropped me off at an orphange when I was a newborn, wrapped in a blanket, and told the lady running the orphange to give me a name, any name, that started with the letter 'p'. That's all I ever heard about my heritage. Although I do have a picture of my mom and dad together." Paige was digging through her bag. She had remembered to grab the picture on the way out, as it was a vital clue to her real identity. She held out the picture to Piper, who took it and gasped in shock. There, in the picture, was her mother and her whitelighter, Sam. She'd known they'd had an affair, but had never heard of a child coming from it. She passed the picture to Phoebe before snuggling deeper into Leo's embrace. He'd been silent through the whole ordeal, as if trying to figure out if he knew about Paige. Once Phoebe had the picture, she reacted in a way similar to Piper. Cole, who had been sitting on the arm of the couch where she was seated, slid down, and held her. She couldn't believe that she'd just lost a sister, and now, it seemed gained one. It was impossible. It had to be. There was no way she could be their sister. Grams would have said something, for sure. "And this is the blanket they dropped me off in." Paige held out a pink blanket, with a white 'p' embroidered on it. It was identical to the ones Prue, Piper, and Phoebe had been wrapped in as babies. It was too much for Piper. She collapsed, crying to to Leo's open arms, and wept tears for her elder sister. She cried to her mom up above, trying to find out if Paige really was her sister, or if this was all a big joke, and Prue would come out of that coffin laughing. It had to happen. Prue wasn't supposed to die. She was the protector. She was always supposed to be there. Piper cried for a long time, and Leo held her, ignoring the Elder's call. He knew she needed him more than they did. Finally, when Piper was only sniffling, and Phoebe was safely in Cole's arms, Phoebe tentatively aproached the subject of witchcraft. "Paige, do strage things seem to happen to you? Do you seem to be able to do stuff most people can't?" "Not really. I mean, this morning the paper blew in through the wind when it was a calm day and opened itself to the obituary page, but other than that, no." Paige looked confused, as if they were asking her if she had three heads, or something. "Oh. Well, this is going to be hard to say, but did you ever think you could be a witch?" Piper asked, trying not to sniffle too much. "As in like magical powers and stuff? No way. That's just fake, it's just an illusion." Paige laughed. These people were trying to get her used to the family. "Okay, that makes this even harder. Paige, we, myself, Piper, and our late sister, Prue, are witches. Which, in turn, makes you one. You will have supernatural powers, and Leo, the one Piper's all cuddled up to, is going to guide you in how to use them." |
