Vibrolux (Shoreline/Select)
It's flaky and floaty and groovy and loopy. Just one look at the dizzying squiggly lines on the cover gives an indication of the psychedelic direction of Vibrolux. The Toronto band, while less loop and sample reliant onstage, gets into E-territory with "Ground," "Superstar," and "Need."
Vibrolux has already spread its vibe near and wide through the pro video for "Drown," which earned a place among the big boys on Muchmusic's Top 30 Countdown. The groovying, druggy psychedelia continues throughout the album, from the breathy opening of "Mind" to the funky "Monet" and even "Ahead," which gets a touch aggressive and bluesy. One luxurious vibe, to be sure.
