Underneath The Rod

Story

Upon purchasing the rod, we discovered during the Safety that one of the rear coil over shocks was leaking. In order to get a better idea of what was going on, we took the car to a local Wheel Alignment shop where an avid Hot Rodder worked. While the car was up on the hoist, I took a few pictures of the underneath for future reference.

Rear End

Right Side

You are looking towards the right rear wheel in this picture.
One of the upper diagonal links shows at the top of the picture while the differential is on the left. One exhaust pipe runs across the bottom.

Front End

Left Side

This view is looking forward at the left front wheel.
The steering shaft enters in from the top left. The Mustang II suspension is fully visible here.

Battery Box

Left Side

This view is looking forward towards the battery box which is located under the passenger seat. The right exhaust pipe skirts around behind the box while the drive shaft is on the left. Battery removal requires jacking the car up and unbolting the battery box. Rather complicated.

Brake Cylinder

Left Side

This view is looking forward underneath the driver's seat. The drive shaft runs down on the right and the master cylinder is the biege thing straight ahead. The black cable passing across the picture is the mechanical speedometer cable.

This view is looking towards the driver side of the car with the left exhaust pipe running across the bottom of the picture. The master cylinder is the biege chunk of metal with the foot peddle plunger feddingin from the right. The proportioning valve is visible here.

Our final view is from almost directly under the master cylinder. The chrome base pan for the transmission is on the left withteh two green wires connecting to the transmission switch. The spring is to aid in the return of the brake piston when the brake is removed.
