Jefferson is located in the South Park plateau along the C&S main line between
the Kenosha pass and Como. Th ecommunity serviced the local ranches along with the
mining (dredging) oeprations. The railroad facilities included a fine station,
water tank, pump house and passing siding.
My rendition of Jefferson is located in the back right corner of the layout where
the mainline loops around the return along the back of the layout. The three
railroad structures are located along the passing tracks with the addtional
industries adjacent to the two stub sidings while the Coke operations is nearby in the
canyon.
Jefferson Town Hall
The Jefferson Town hall is actually the Pitkin Town Hall kit that was manufactured
by Builders In Scale. It's a wonderful structure that lent itself perfectly to
my Jefferson where I wanted to convey the presence of a financialy healthy
community.
|
The town hall is located on the outer side of the mail line. The white
plaster foundations belong to the town hall.
The blue styrofoam has been used to rough in the scenery. |

Here is a close up view of the finished town hall.
Note the swing set, cemetary and out house that accompany the hall. All these details
were included in the kit. |
Jefferson Module
Downtown Jefferson has been built on a cresent shaped plywood base that
facilitated construction at the model bench.
|
The Builders In Scale Town Hall is located on the right side while the left building
is a Durango Press kit and the middle one was kit bashed from a Design Preservation
kit. |
|
Here is a clos up view of the Durango Press building (Assy Office)
which features a removable
roof that has been sheathed in Builder in Scale Ribbed Roffing material.
As of yet the tenant has not yet moved in!
The white fence posts are the top ends of fancy tooth picks which I picked up
in Japan many years ago. |

Some over all views of the finished Downtown Module
in position on the layout.
Note the pencil makrs on the blue back drop. These denote the future scenery that will
be painted giving the whole scene greater depth and interest.

Retail Stores
Just on the inside edge of the track is a pair of wood framed buildings that
represent the typical retail outlets one would find in a prosperus community.
The store on the left will house the local Barber who also provides dental services
as required. The right hand store is a gentleman's clothing business that caters
towards the higher income, well to do individuals. This store is fully detailed inside.
