Background: The first and most important lesson that Samas learned from his old master was the skill of the Mental Probe. By focusing his magic, Samas can create a mental link with an opponent. This one-way link provides Samas with three valuable weapons in a battle. First of all, Samas knows what attacks his enemy is going to make before that enemy actually does anything. Therefore, all standard attacks are useless against Samas; he sees them coming with time to spare. Superior attacks are reduced to Standard, Supreme attacks to Superior, and Ultimate attacks are reduced to Supreme. The second, and more important, edge that the Probe gives Samas is knowledge of his opponents fears which can be exploited with his Spell Crafter power. Any defeats, humiliations, or phobias that are buried within an opponents mind are brought to Samas? attention. This is especially useful against an enemy who has the weakness ?Overpowering Fear.? Finally, although Telepathy is not a detection power, Samas can use it to help locate an oponent. If his enemy is thinking ?Gosh, I?m glad I?m invisible and hiding behind this big tree,? or ?Hahaha, he can?t find me and I?m right below him!? Samas will know and direct his attacks at them. The mental probe is also the means by which Samas is gathering intelligence for the Guild on the fighters in the Arena.

Powers and Abilities

Arcane Lore

  • Power: Arcane Lore
  • Level: Standard
Samas studied beneath an ancient battle-mage who shared many an arcane secret with Samas. After the death of his master, Samas became affiliated with the Shallow Guild of Bleak Sunrise in the hopes of learning about the less ?flashy? side of magic.

Probe

  • Power: Telepathy
  • Level: Supreme

Spell Slinger

  • Power: Spellcraft
  • Level: Supreme
  • Advantage: Area Effect This attack causes damage in a large, circular area.
  • Advantage: Seeker Ranged attack hunts target.
  • Advantage: Ranged Attack Attack usable at a distance.
  • Advantage: Multi Attack Attack can hit multiple times during one strike.
Samas is an incredible spell slinger. His battle-mage mentor taught him every trick in the book, and even invented some new ones just for him. Samas is a veritable master of offensive spells. He can cast any kind of offensive spell, well crafted and containing huge amounts of power. Samas can throw powerful fireballs, lightening bolts, tornadoes, water-streams, or pure energy at his foe. He can create huge walls of liquid flame that crash down upon his opponents, or rings of lightening that spread out in circles to hit his enemy, while staying safe in the center. Samas has also been known to throw a powerful energy spell at an incoming energy attack, letting the two cancel each other out in midair. Combined with his Hyper-Casting ability and Wings, Samas? Spell Slinging makes it EXTREMELY difficult to get near him.

Hyper-Casting

  • Power: Super Speed
  • Level: Standard
  • Weakness: power in item - Easy to Lose item
The final gift that Samas was given by his teacher was a set of earrings. Not just for looking good, these earrings carry in them an incredibly powerful enchantment. A wizard who wears these earrings need not fear ever running out of magical reserves or taking a break between casting spells. They give Samas the ability to craft and throw one spell after another, wave upon wave of them, without taking a break. Samas? true power lies in his ability to overwhelm his opponent with one earthshaking, crafted spell after another, but if the earrings were to be torn out of his ears, Samas? casting would slow. They are the reason that Samas has joined the Guild. These earrings have shown him the power that support magic can have, but Samas has only ever used offensive spells. He hopes to someday master both facets of magic, and them truly be a force to reckon with.

Spell Crafter

  • Power: Tactician
  • Level: Standard
What good does it do Samas, knowing his opponents deepest fears, when he can simply blow them to kingdom come with some uber-offensive spells? Well, the answer is a lot when he can exploit those fears. Samas? spell crafting ability is incredible, and handy. He takes all the incredible power and energy of his spell-slinging and molds it into forms that cause psychological trauma as well as physical trauma to his opponents. Sure he doesn?t come into the Arena with a set plan to get his enemy, but his Mental Probe provides more than enough information for him to exploit. Samas knows to send fireballs shaped as rabid pitbulls against an enemy who is scared of dogs. He can shape a gout of fire intop the shape of his opponents greatest enemy, or into the person who gave them their most humiliating defeat. An enemy who has vertigo is more likely to be on the receiving end of a tornado spell that throws them, spinning, high into the air. An opponent who is afraid of the dark? Samas can cast an earthquake spell, pulling his opponent deep into a dark rent in the earth. His spells are all still purely destructive and offensive, but he crafts their forms and side effects to do him the most good, and his opponents the most harm

Raven Wings

  • Power: Flight
  • Level: Standard
Samas? wings aren?t incredibly powerful, but they do what he needs them to quite nicely. Samas has been known to fly up into the air and simply sling spells down at his impotent opponent on the ground, or chase after a fleeing opponent, slinging spells all the while.
