One night this week, just after dark I was sitting out back on the deck just killing time and pretty much being bored, when I noticed a single fairly bright flash in the sky just behind a row of trees. I simply thought it just a plane and ignored it. Suddenly there was another flash much lower and slightly obscured by the tree branches. Then another, and another..

and another all seemingly in the same place. I thought if it is a plane it has to be moving away from my position. But I was also wondering why if it were a plane moving away wasn't the light coming from between the leaves and branches not shifting; in other words in order for the aircraft lights to be seen in the exact same place through the branches the pilot would have to have the plane fly PERFECTLY IN A STRAIGHT LINE AWAY FROM MY RELATIVE POSITION.

To understand what I mean try watching a plane moving away behind trees sometimes, the aircraft lights will move about between other braches and leaves from time to time as the plane moves. It would have to. As the plane moves away and the tree remains stationary the planes relative position will change with respect to the tree meaning that eventually you would not be able to see the plane anymore because it would be blocked somewhere along the line by other branches and leaves!!!!!!

This logical normal thing however was not happening with this light; conclusion the light is part of some object that is stationary and blinking relatively fast; OFF..ON..OFF..ON etc. I was about to get up and position myself clear of the trees so I could see what this was - when it happened!!!!

A small, vertical, luminescent green, line came no appeared between me and the tree branch through I had been watching this flashing light. It was V E R Y slowly falling and it just blinked out. I quickly began looking about to see if it was going to COME BACK ON.

I never saw it again. The glowing line could best be described as having the same type glow as a luminescent clock display.
