Dennis Rader -
The B.T.K. Strangler

On February 25, 2005, police arrested Dennis Rader of Park City and confirmed his
identity as The B.T.K. Strangler through DNA analysis.

So far, what we know is this:

Age 59 at time of arrest, born March 9, 1945.

He married in 1971, and has 2 children, a son born in
July 1975 and a daughter born in June 1978.

His home is just a few doors from where previously unconnected victim
Marine Hedge was abducted from her home and murdered in 1985.

At the time of his arrest, he was President of his Church Council.

He was in the Air Force from 1966 to 1970

Rader worked as an assembler for Coleman, from 1971 to 1973.

He was an employee of ADT, a security company, from 1974 to 1989,
encompassing most of the time he was actively killing.

He was a '79 graduate of WSU, with a degree in Administration of Justice.

He was employed by Animal Control.

and was appointed to the Sedgwick Co. Animal Control Advisory Board

He was a Compliance Officer, who ticketed kids for playing in the street,
and fined residents for non-compliance with housing codes.

It has been reported by a neighbor that one couple moved away from the
neighborhood because they were uneasy around him.

The same neighbor also stated that Rader was friendly to neighbors he liked,
and tended to pick on those he didn't.

A package sent to KSAS in February 2005 contained a floppy disk
which was traced to Rader by a computer forensics expert.

It has been reported that his daughter was then approached by FBI
agents to provide a DNA swab in which a familial link led to his arrest,
but this has also been disputed.

Sites searched include his home, the Park City Library, his work, and his church.

Cold case victimes Marine Hedge and Delores Davis have been
attributed to this killer since his arrest.

Law enforcement officials are unable at this time to discuss any
specifics with regard to the investigation.
