Notes:   The MC80a carries more starfighter squadrons than its predecessor, the MC80. Officials in the Empire found that they were unable to believe that powerful Alliance warships could be menaced by these "converted pleasure craft". The abundance of multiple backup systems requires constant maintenance to keep these vessels at top efficiency. The advantage of those redundant systems is that Mon Calamari Cruisers do not cripple easily and thus make them difficult to defeat. Mon Calamari crews continually work to keep their effective ships in excellent shape. Mon Calamari Cruisers combine impressive durability, with excellent speed and maneuverability.

Mon Calamari Cruisers are crewed by a strange combination of Calamarians and Quarren, whom, to the Empire's dismay, are superior space combatants. Mon Calamarians almost exclusively make up the command crew of these vessels, due to the controls and displays are calibrated for Mon Cal physiology. To change those systems would require the total retooling of the Mon Calamari Cruisers. The usage of these vessels has significantly furthered the Rebel Alliance's terrorist cause. MC80as form the backbone of the Rebel Fleet. These monstrosities apparently have no design plans or specifications, since as we know; no two Mon Calamari Cruisers are alike. However we do know that Mon Cals find it the logical approach to build each ship unique, but the consequence of that is most technicians find it is perplexing to work on the vessels. Each Mon Calamari Cruiser has its own customized components and systems, thus much time is wasted by Rebel technicians figuring out the unusual systems rather than maintaining or repairing them.
