Additional Info:

 Class Profile:   Multipurpose Fighter

Notes:   The Z95 Headhunter is utilized by the New Freedom Coalition and Alliance for training missions because of it's flight control similarity to an X or Ywing. This fighter is also used on missions where the profile calls for a covert attack on Imperial forces without drawing unnecessary attention to the NFC. Because of the remote nature of Alliance and New Freedom Coalition bases, Headhunters are used as a defense supplement with the Ywings on hand. The legendary and antiquated Z95 Headhunter is used by thousands of planetary police forces, private space fleets and planetary defense navies. Naturally numerous, pirates and criminals have also made use of this rugged starfighter and have earned the Z95 a reputation for taking a beating in battle. However, the durability of the Z95 can only be explained by the fighter's structural toughness, easy availability and low maintenance needs.

So many of these craft were manufactured by Incom and Subpro over several decades ago that it made this four engine fighter one of the most common starfighters in the galaxy, albeit among one of the oldest still in use. The bubble canopy of the Z95 gives the pilot a clear field of vision in all directions, save for the new models, which feature extra maneuvering jets that block some peripheral vision. Later models feature a heavily armored canopy much like the one used in the XWing, while headsup holographic tactical displays were improved. The sensor packets and the combat targeting computers are found in the nose of the Z95 and the cowling behind the cockpit protects the main power generator.

Because of the fighters intuitive design and wellunderstood technology, countless variants of the Z95 can be see across the galaxy. Most frequently, the weapons systems are enhanced or the engines supercharged or replaced for greater speeds. Despite it's well puttogether design and flexibility on both offensive and defensive mission profiles, the Z95 Headhunter is no match for Imperial TIEs.
