Before getting involved with 3D animation, I was an audio engineer doing
live mixing and making demos and singles for local artists. For a brief
history of my involvement as an audio engineer, go HERE.
Here are some MP3s of the recordings I made in the mid to late 1980's.

Before NOVOX
the project was called "Phase 2". Originally intended as a Synth-pop group
consisting of James Reyna, Kevin Palmer and David Forbus as producer. Kevin
Palmer, originally as the "lead vocalist", quit early into the project.
A number of songs had already been sequenced and work on vocal tracks had
been started. James went ahead and recorded the lead voice for this song
with David Forbus singing backing vocal tracks. This MP3 was made from
a rough cassette mix, not a finished prodution. (1989-1990)
Credits:
James Reyna - Music, all instruments, lead vocals
Kevin Palmer - Lyrics
David Forbus - Production/Mixing/Engineering, backing vocals.
Production technique: 8-track for vocals, all instruments synched via
SMPTE to Atari ST.
Before joining the Galactic
Cowboys, Ben Huggins was in a band called Further Information with
Brian Turner. (Brian's web site)
This is a demo recorded by that group. (1988)
Credits:
Brian Turner - Music, guitars.
Ben Huggins - Lyrics, vocals
David Lentz - Bass guitar
Rodney - original drums (replaced with programming)
David Forbus - Production/Mixing/Engineering, drum programming
Production technique: 8-track for vocals, guitar and bass. All drums,
FSK sync to C-64.
At the time of the Jessica Hahn, Tammy and Jim Bakker scandal, a local
C&W artist (Gene Hofford) wanted to do a song lampooning the situation.
Using the classic song "Frankie and Johnny", Gene came up with some lyrics.
I've forgotten the names of the people involved. The "news reporter" is
resposible for most of the instruments: keyboards, drum programming and
keyboard bass. A sax player and guitar player each came in and did their
tracks. The voice of "Tammy Faye" was done by the winner of a Tammy Faye
look-alike contest who also played Tammy in the music video. The silly
backing vocals, the voice of "Jim Bakker" and "Jim Bakker" in the music
video is by David Forbus. Produced/engineered by David Forbus. This track
was made into a single and music video which received some local airplay.
These are songs for a demo for synth-pop artist "Sir Robin" (Robin Delhei).
Robin played all the instruments and sings all vocals. Drum machine programming
by Robin/David Forbus. This was some of the first recording done with Yamaha
SPX-90 digital reverb.
Production technique: 8-track for vocals and insturments. Drums, FSK
sync to TR-909.
This is one side of a single (45) for Steve Everet Crump. This song received
regular airplay on KSBJ. All music, instruments and vocals by Steve Everet.
Production technique: 8-track for vocals, guitar and sax. All keyboards
& drums, FSK sync to C-64.
These tracks were demos for the Christian Rock band "Fire Escape". This
received some local airplay on KSBJ. This was done before Digital reverb,
most effects were Roland SpaceEcho and DeltaLab digital delay.

(practice studio)
