History of Sand sculpting

Sand sculpture has been with us for thousands of years. Sand Art in one way or another can be
found throughout the worlds' cultures, from the sand paintings of the North American Indians to
the Sand Mandalas of the Tibetan monks. There is a deep yet untapped history of such creations
and their Creators. This site was started as a means to promote sand sculptures and their Creators to a world wide audience,
hopefully also encouraging more people to participate and enjoy their environment through the
eco- friendly and free activity of sand sculpting.

Sand sculptures should consist of only sand and water!

Peoples willingness to spend hours and sometimes days and weeks to create a work of Art in sand,
knowing the piece will soon be gone forever is a testament to the pure beauty and magic of the
Ephemeral Arts.

My Background

I have been interested in art as long as I can remember. I have been snow sculpting for about eight years and sand sculpting for about 5 years. The bulk of my work consists of cartoon characters I have created. I have also experimented with air brushing and watercolors.
My first sand sculpture was a simple snake.(As soon as I find the picture I'll post it) I will dedicate a few pages on this site in the weeks to come.
My other side projects include a childrens book, which I have written and illustrated. I hope to have completed it by the end of this year.
