Firefighters Don't Have A Chance ...

Think About It ...

When the fire trucks are delayed 30 seconds in traffic
PEOPLE SAY:  "It took them 10 minutes to get here"
When the engine races by at 35 MPH
PEOPLE SAY:  "Look at those reckless fools"
When 2 men struggle with a 4 man ladder
PEOPLE SAY:  "They don't even know how to raise a ladder"
When firefighters open up windows to ventilate to
reduce the heat and smoke in a fire
PEOPLE SAY:  "Look at the wrecking crew"
When they open floors or walls to get at the fire
PEOPLE SAY:  "There goes the axe squad"
When the Chief stands back where he can see and direct his firefighters
PEOPLE SAY:  "He's afraid to go where he sends his men"
When the fire department loses a building
PEOPLE SAY:  "It's a lousy department, they don't know what they're doing"
When the fire department makes a good stop
PEOPLE SAY:  "The fire didn't amount to much anyway"
When a lot of water is necessary to put out the fire
PEOPLE SAY:  "They're doing more damage with the water than the flames did"
When the fire department inspects property
PEOPLE SAY:  "They're meddling in somebody's business"
When a citizen wants a fire hazard corrected
PEOPLE SAY:  "I'll call the mayor"
When a firefighter gets hurt
PEOPLE SAY:  "He was a careless guy"
When a civilian gets hurt
PEOPLE SAY:  "It's a crazy fire department"
When they see a firefighter taking a break between training and inspections
PEOPLE SAY:  "Look at them, they don't do anything, they're a waste of money"
When a firefighter gets killed
PEOPLE SAY:  "Hey, it's a dangerous job, he knew he was taking chances when he took the job"
