If from their graves they could stop your tears.
They would tell you that they faced their death with out any fears.
Here lies the heros of our great nation.
They came from all walks of life and from every fire station.
They were brothers they were fathers, they were some mother's son.
They were firefighters first and would help anyone.
The bell would ring and they would always respond.
You could always depend on them to answer the alarm.
They gave up their bodies and they gave up their minds.
Everyone knows that firefighters are one of a kind.
So here they lie from their families they are parted.
The familes the brothers will always be broken hearted.
FIREFIGHTERS
The thoughts of his family he tucked away
He would have to save strangers on the dawn of this day
He crawled through the smoke every night in his dreams
This time was for real he could hear her faint screams
He took a mighty swing with his ax at the door
From her small frail body she would breath no more
He carried her out with his massive arms
He'd do it again without any qualms
Tomorrow he'll return to answer the call
He'll be there to protect us one and all
CHRISTMAS TEARS
Christmas vacation was almost here
But soon their joys would turn to fear
They played and frolicked in the snow
For in another day they would have to go
The halls were decorated with christmas cheer
In a very few hours they would share a tear
Most people were left to wonder why
That 10 young girls would have to die
The black smoke filled the halls so very fast
Some ran some cried some took their last gasp
The firefighters came and they did there best
Their strength and their courage were put to the test
Some firefighters would stare and some would cry
and others were left to just wonder why
The memories still linger of that tragic night
Of 10 young girls and that terrible sight This was the story of the providence college fire Dec. 13, 1977 worst dorm fire in US history which helped change fire codes in all college dorms across the nation
THE COLLAPSE
Five brave men would die on this dark rainy day
Under the bricks and the rubble their spirts would stay
They fought fires in harlem but could have been from anywhere
Without hesitation they rushed right in without a second to spare
They all had children and left beautiful wives
It is with great sadness that we celebrate their lives
Firefighters never hesitate or ever ask why
for they know at any fire that one of their own may die
Some days were slow but most went by fast
They worked and they played and made friendships to last
When god takes a firefighter to heaven above
Its because he saved lives and for that there is no greater love
GODS FIREFIGHTERS
The sirens blaring the lights were flashing their blood was running cold.
Their nerves on edge there bodies tense their story yet untold.
What would they find when they reached the blaze and fight this terrible fight.
Could they slay the dragon bring him to his knees and sneak away in the darkness of the night.
Sometimes they die of old age, sometimes they die in a fire.
Its not for lack of strength, its not for lack of courage or any lack of desire.
It takes a special man to run in where others rush out.
When god made firefighters all the angels they did shout.
When firefighters die they all go to a special place.
Because god don't care about color, creed or race.
