Fox Lake firefighters battle large marsh fire
The Fox Lake Fire Chief called this marsh fire in after spotting the header. After trying to stop
the advance of the flames, extra crews were called in to the scene from Round Lake and Lake
Villa Fire Department. Crews were set up north of the fire to protect the Munson Marina which
during this time of year has a boat storage yard which is in the path of the fire. Crews were able
to stop the fire before it caused any damage.
Firefighters save resident in Fox Lake apartment fire.
Just a few hours after fighting the marsh fire featured above, the Fox Lake Fire Department
received a report of an apartment fire in Fox Lake. The Fire Chief and a Fox Lake police officer
arrived on the scene first and reported heavy fire coming from a first floor apartment window and
proceeded to go to each apartment and evacuate the building. The officer received minor injuries
and was treated at the scene. Firefighters were able to make a quick knockdown and rescued a
resident from inside his bedroom. The quick actions of firefighters kept the fire from spreading to
any other apartments. The injured resident was transported by Flight For Life Helicopter to a
burn center for treatment of his injuries. The Round Lake FD assisted at the scene.
